Why not just upgrade the one that SV has already established? Now that your'e the classic nazi (lol), get with SV and clean it up, add, and change the damn title. I would say keep stickies to a minimum.
Just my 2 cents.
 
yeah i was thing that also.
me and SV are already working on it but i wanted to give others opinion too so i made this one for like the testing area.
 
The hub conversion (ADD, Auto, Manual) always seems to be a topic. I know when I did mine I used 4x4 Wire. I see you have his drivetrain specs page listed. Not sure if it worth adding something like a "4Runner Repairs/DIY/Technical Write-ups" with his 4Runner page.

His hub conversion page was hard to find. I always have to Google it. Can't seem to locate it on his site. Replacing Toyota AUTO Hubs - ORN

idle chatter is allowed SV_dude made the suggestion that we keep this friendly and open to all our classic members.

he will put all the tech together and we will put it on page one in his post so any chatter will come after the facts.
 
Failing clutch/shifter fix?

This weekend I did 3 days of offroading, with no issues, the 4Runner performed like a champ. 2.5hrs to get there and 2.5hrs to get back, all day in the trails and it worked well.

The day after I got home I lost the ability to shift gears. There was no resistance on the clutch peddal and was very easy to press down.

I noticed a puddle of oil, and I traced the dripping up the frame under the clutch master cylinder but I didn't see any oil in the engine bay?!?. weird. I wiped it all off, and looked at the clutch master cylinder. It wasn't full, but not at all empty. Weird again. I filled it up, pressed the clutch, and no leaking, or squirting from anywhere. Let it sit, and pressed the clutch many times, still no leaking. Traced the tubing down from the driver side to the other side on the passenger side transmission. No leaking anywhere. The tube goes into another cylinder that pushes the clutch fork. It had a bleeder valve...bingo.

My theory is that before this happened I did checked the fluids, and maybe I didn't put the cap back on properly so fluid must have leaked out, and air sucked in. Took a hose to the bleeder valve, together with my brother we bled the air out and added more fluid.

WOW...WOW...WOW, is all I can say. It shifts like a dream now. I think I always had an issue with it, and this was just the straw that broke the camels' back. I just always figured it was an old truck, and that is why it didn't shift very smooth. Now it shifts like new, and the friction point is not up under my chin.

To end my long story. If you have shifting issues like the clutch peddal is very very soft, and you have trouble sliding in the gears, try bleeding the system. Hope this helps someone improve their ride.

We should start a new thread on this and have BV throw the link into the OP. In fact, I think I'll do that.

I modified the first post to add KidV's link to his FSM thread. Hopefully we can keep the FSM's around and be able to help everyone out without causing any issues.
 
I'll have a bunch soon when I get to work on my 4runner... that or I'll do write ups in the 3rd gen section. :hiding:
