1st Gen 4runner Hardtop replacement glass/rear tailgate glass

Hey guys,


Couple months ago I sold my 3rd and just recently got back into 4runners by buying a 84 1st gen (22r,5spd,4x4, SR5)

Super happy to finally have one of my desired projects but now need some help.

The truck has a broken rear tailgate glass that was shot out (good ol texas for you) and also driver side hardtop rear window is shattered too (not the sliding one but the solid one)

Anybody had to replace one that can give me a site or place to visit?

(And yes I did search the forum and the web but no answer)

I called the stealership and even with my discount, each glass comes out to $300+

Any texas locals have one to sell me? (Im located in Houston Texas)

I was surprised also. Local auto glass places said not available.

yeah kinda but depends, I got the hardtop side glass ready to buy in town, just need the rear now

Researched pricing and looks like i rather dump that $$ into my 22r rebuild

Soft tops are a little speedy but they are well worth it. You will love your runner in the warm weather with one.

Edit: if all else fails, you should be able to find a glass at a junk yard.

Soft tops are the reason god gave us 4Runners. Failing that, I'd be looking in the wrecking yards too.

Trust me I would love a soft top and most likely will buy one soon but getting the rebuild done is #1 priority.

(Texas is a great place to enjoy it )
