1st gen diesel.. What to expect?

Hey guys, so i just got my first 4runner finally on the road after putting the new engine in. I was wondering acceloration wise what should i expect?
At the moment its kinda scary pulling out of my driveway and headin up the hill unless theres no cars in sight! I understand its an old N/A diesel and it not gonna be fast, but atleast getting over 60km/hr isnt much to ask for right?
It has 31" tyres full exhaust and headers.
Also has anyone bolted a turbo on to the na engine? What could i expect from that?

I have all the specs to do a turbo 2l on a NA block its not hard just very expensive.
do you know what gears your 4runner has because diesel stock axles came with 4.88 for some years and 4.33 for the newer 2l block.
if you need more get up and go i would re gear its far cheaper then the turbo conversion. you need a 2lt mechanical turbo diesel injection pump and they are around 1,000$ then add 400$ for the turbo and then 300$ for a custom manifold or 800$ for a factory one. its not cheap yet im working on making the 2l diesel pump auto adjust to boost when i get that figured out ill be selling the kits as one off items.

i just put in 5.70 gears for my 2l NA rig haven't got it on the road yet but it should be right were i need it for serious off road.
for you i would look at 5.10 or 4.88 depending on how much get up go you want.

Cheers guys.. Oh well that makes sense why my post didnt get much attention.. Well i can tell you that the a tank of diesel lasts a while, but so does a "short" drive haha.. Im not sure of my diff gears.. Mine is an 86, so whatever that camr with.. Is the fuel punp different for the turbo diesel than the mech. One that mine came with? I may just look at doing an engine conversion at a later date!

Shop around for wrecked hilux surfs in Canada. Lots of 2lte with good pumps and turbos just cracked heads so everything u would need could be had for cheap.

There are Land Cruiser LJ78's in Canada that also have the 2L-TE's ( many with cracked heads ).
