1st Gen: Front Bumper Options

It's time for a new front bumper. What are my options?

I like the look, but haven't been able to get any feedback from anyone here if they've done it and like it.

Certainly don't want anything too bulky. The threads of my rear bumper might give an idea of what I like:

I have never been a fan of a bulky bumper on a small vehicle. I think if you wanted to use something other than a tube bumper, you should build or buy something that is almost like a minimalist design like your rear bumper. I don't know of any off the top of my head but do a search on pirate 4x4 and there is a thread that has a ton of home built front and rear bumpers. I say build your own if you have the ability to. I appreciate and respect one off home built bumpers that compliment the vehicle and serves a purpose.

I too am not a fan of the huge bumpers but I am a fan of increased strength and durability. That being said I'm almost decided on this combonation from 4xinnovations.com

Agreed! their bumpers are very tough and still have a good finished look to them that compliment the vehicle.

Have decent photos to share that I could get ideas from?

I suppose I should just design my own and find someone to help me build it. As we say in motorcycling, it's not the destination but the journey. I think the process might be fun. It would help me scratch the creative itch I get from time to time.

Right off the AOR website. I have their front on my 2nd gen and will more than likely compliment it with their rear bumper and sliders. While I love the products from 4xInnovations, it will be a little less expensive for me to go and pick up the armor at Scotty's shop. Scotty is a good guy to work with.

I have an Addicted bumper as well. Great price, they made quick and got it to me even quicker. Very satisfied by their customer service and quality. (sorry these are the only good pictures I have of the front)

Has anyone done anything with square tubing?
I'm not a huge fan of the round tube look (as you might guess from my rear bumper). I like the angles of the CBI but would like to cut done on the bulk a bit. It would be great if I could work in square tubing for a consistent look.

im a big fan of those "bulky bumpers" i have an ARB bumper and love it
im not a big fan of tube or tube/plated bumpers. too much exposed body parts on the under side showing and looks so empty

I am with Toyotech, if I could find another ARB for my runner I would jump on it. But I have had no luck,so I am going with a CBI weld it kit and ditching my tube bumper

Wow! The prices for Addicted tube bumpers are unbelievable! You could buy front and rear bumpers for two trucks for the price of a one of the higher end 3rd gen plate bumpers.

They'll be seeing some business from me in the future :boink:

Inchworm makes the adapter to get from A340x to gear-drive transfer case. $600 or so, which is why you don't see it very often.

Yup, and the way those autos suck power anyway I think is why most people swap to a manual trans.

4.7s behind an auto has got to be nice in the rocks, though.
