1st gen jackpot!!!

emblems have always walked a fine line of gaudy/informative for me. But then I realize, who the hell needs to know, so I typically remove emblems. (did on my 00 prelude, 05 runner, and my 87 runner came with Minimal decals :D) I want people to wonder. people used to ask " what kind of car is that" about my prelude, but it had no honda emblems or prelude decals..... i liked that.

I'm not sure if there is a correct way to badge the 4Runner....Here is a pic of a 1988 that looks to have original paint. The badge placement is not like either of yours.
The other pic is of a parts truck, it is also a 1988 and had original paint.

That's strange.....both of mine are different. Hmmm maybe they were repainted at some point...don't believe the original one was ever dameged to need a repaint(ill ask the last 2 owners..lol) but the red one no idea.

My celica is badgless also except for the rivited badge on the trunk, but I want to keep the badges on the beast.

Ok while this is still related to my tailgate.....only issue I've found is that the defroster doesn't work now? It worked on my old window but not on the new one.

Any ideas?

check the plugs and wires to be sure all is hooked up, next check the fuse to see if it poped when you were doing all the switch out work. Check for power at the tail gate wire harness, check to see if there are any breaks in the window de-frost tape.

Will do. The lines on the window look fine ill take the interior panel off tommorow and take a look. And check the fuse.

Emblems on '88

My '88 is pretty much ALL original and stock! ( Other than Softopper ) Emblems in USA are likewise; unless re-painted or modified!

any update on getting me a gate? thanks:confused:

Sorry I have been swamped this week and last weekend was a bust. I should be able to sneak out there sometime this weekend and check it out. Definitely next week.

Rustbucket: Can you get me a picture of the wires you used to roll the window down at the yard? Do I need to lug a battery out there?

I just unbolted the window motor. Its 3 8mm bolts. I used a 1/4drive ratchet. The bolt heads face the outside of the tailgate(behind the motor) so it all kind of by feel. Then feed the window down by hand.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the 1stgens? Specifically for the rear window defroster.

Well after tracing the harness all the way into the tailgate, I found that the connectors that connect the wiring to the window on the drivers side are broken and the wiring isn't connected. If any of you have a spare harness let me know.
