Hey yall,
im looking to buy a 1995-2000 tacoma

im debating between 2.7 liter or 3.4 v6.
i was wandering what gas mileage these things get?
i live in a small town lots of hills, little highway and a bit of off-roading.
i was wandering if these had any issues, like the 3.0 and there headgasket problem???

thanks guys!!!

The 3RZ-FE (4cyl) and 5VZ-FE (6cyl) are both very bulletproof engines. They do not share the headgasket failure that the 3.0 3VZ-FE V6 was plagued with. It would be an excellent truck with either of those engines. The 2.7 gets pretty good mileage as well.

2.7l diesel anything... yes, double yes if turbo'd
3.4l toyota... also yes
2.7l toyota... meh, I don't see any justification for this swap.

3.4 is what I would love to swap into my 95 3.0 She doesnt have any head gasket problems. Shes in Great shape but just low on power. The exhuast and K&N cold air intake gave it a decent Hp gain

Maybe I'm mistaking him, but it doesn't look like he's inquiring about an engine swap. I think he's just asking for our opinions on the two motors that come in a tacoma that he's looking at buying.

yes u are correct!!! ha ha ha thanks for the posts though!

go for the 3.4. you wont be disapointed, plenty of HP and still decent gas mileage. the 2.7 is still a good motor, but might be a little slow. but ill recommend a 5spd for better longevity

I have a 2.7 , I like it but at times I wish I had a 3.4 one the days I wanna toy around.

To be completely honest I just wish my 2.7 was a 5spd
