I was actually wondering the same thing. I assumed that it would. I am thinking about trying this in the spring. If you beat me to it, let me know.

Not really guessing, that's what it is for my 2004 OEM fob and looking for a OEM replacement fob for mine so I have an extra shows that it's the same number for a 2003, but I suggest that anyone do their own research online for a OEM 2003 replacement to put their mind at ease!

Yes from my research HYQ12BBX is the correct number for 2005 to 2009 4 Runner key fobs, but not for a 2004 which is as stated is definitely HYQ12BAN and from what I've seen online is the same for the 2003.

Just wanted to say thank you and that this worked for my 2003 Sports Edition 4runner. No idea what my FCC ID is, just took a chance and all is great! F.Y.I. my local Lowes and Wal-Mart would not cut the key as they stated it was strict policy not to cut any key key provided by the consumer as they would be liable if it broke my key. My local locksmith cut it for me no problem with a copy of the master key in about 60 seconds.

The "non-flip" key like the one in the picture you posted is available for our trucks from the same seller we have purchased the "flip" style from. It's just personal pref. on the style you want to go with.
The link you posted is diff from the pic you posted and the flip style that we are using. I can find the link to the non flip on you are asking about.

We have had ours for a month or two now and have had no issues. it works better than my replacement fob that I got from the dealership!
The only issue I found was getting someone to cut it. Lowes and HD wont do outside keys for liability reasons. most of the locksmiths I contacted had a newer style of machine that didnt allow for the fob.

How did you order it? Did you use the eBay link but directly message the guy to request one using the FCC code of our particular model year?

I have not tried, because I have not had to take it apart yet...[emoji23] It wouldn't be as easy as just pressing a clip to pop the key out like on some though...
Post #74 [MENTION=22393]Wallace[/MENTION], did seem to be able to take the fob apart to make it smaller to fit in the machine by the sounds of it.
