Thats correct. The Fob will come apart about halfway down it's length (it's how you change the battery) and will fit in a key cutting machine.

Thought I was going crazy, lol. I noticed that the other day but then thought maybe it was always like that.
Also says compatible with both FCC ID's from all the years of the 4th gens.

There is a small roll pin at the base of the key. That was the only thing I saw to release the key on mine...

Got mine in 8 days. I love it.
Got mine in 8 days as well, went straight to the dealer and had it cut off the VIN for $20 since my original was a little worn. The counter guy said the Parts manager didn't want them to cut customer provided keys but said that he was out today and didnt care... he was also very intrigued my the flip key and was going to get one for himself.
Programmed it with the instructions on this thread with out any issues. I bought the R8 style flip key and noticed there is no panic button. Like others have said, I missed my VW fob, now I have the best of both worlds.

$20 cut from the VIN at the dealer, I'd say pretty good deal.
R8 style....Take a pic for us, don't know if anyone here has tried that one! Would love to see it.

Mine came in last night, I got the keyless entry programmed and the transponder programmed during my lunch break. Then, went by the dealership to have the key cut, and they didn't charge me a dime to "trace" my key. But, would have charged me $15 if I had them cut it via the VIN

got mine in, locksmith charged me 3 dollars to cut key.
was able to program transponder and lock/unlock buttons without a problem
love the key compared to the separate key/fob factory setup.

Probably not with out taking the remote apart and altering the pad so the button isn't pushed. The only other thing I can think of is to order a two button remote...
That was the one thing I noticed about this new remote is that you no longer have to hold the button down for the window to roll down, all it takes is a double tap...
