2 In 1 Key Fob 4Th Gen

Got mine. Had it cut by the dealer for $10. But it will not program. Tried it many times now following the instructions to a T. Tried to enable the chip but when it gets to the point where the immobilizer light flashes, it just never stops flashing, tried waiting many minutes but no dice.
Then tried to program the buttons and no luck there either, when I get to the new programing part, the locks cycle twice each time I try, indicating the key is rejected.

At a loss here..

Are you sure your exisiting key is a master key?

If the answer is yes then the seller may have mistakenly sent you one for the later models 4th gen, contact the seller and see what he says.

Yes I tried using the master key that I recently had made by a locksmith, and tried using the key that came with the truck. The only thing I can think of is that I already have 5 master keys programmed to the vehicle so it won't accept anymore. In which case I guess I have to go back to the dealer to have them delete all the old keys and add my only 3 existing keys to the computer. Really didn't want to spend any more money. But I'm already $50 into this fob.

You can do the deletes yourself, check the first post in the linked topic below, but it says it will delete all masters but the one you use for doing the delete so you may or will have to reprogram both your second master key and your new keyfob/key.

Update: Got it all working! I did have to delete all of the old keys from the system using the method described in the other thread, using my original Toyota key. Then I added this new key and my other regular key with no issue. And then programming the buttons just took a million tries. Probably more excited about this new key than I should be haha

Got mine up and running this afternoon. Complete success.
I didn't realize that two different sequences are needed to get the key to work; program the buttons to lock/unlock doors and a different process for getting the immobilizer to accept the new key. Took all of 5 mins

So I got he key cut and was able to program the buttons, but I can't seem to get the immobilizer programmed.

Once I insert/remove the key 5x then open and shut the door one time, the immobilizer light goes off the starts blinking. So then I try to delete all the old keys but inserting/removing the key 6x. But the same think happens when I open/shut the door 1 time.

I tried to just complete the opening and closing of the door and the immobilizer light just continues to blink.

Any tips to get this bad boy programmed?

It sounds like you are open/closing your door only once rather than 6 times....

I am following that. The issue is once I insert/remove the key 5x, the light should stay on through the doors being opened and closed. No matter what, the light goes off after the first of the six door open/shut's.

correct, I've done the insert 5x for a new program and also the 6x for an erase, both of which its not working.

EDIT: Well it turns out the one and only key that came with my used 4Runner is indeed a valet key. Guess its off to the dealer to get a master. :/

Picked this up on eBay...local locksmith cut the key for free. The key will work in the ignition but not the door for some reason. Coding was straightforward.

If he cut the new key using the original to do so, it maybe that the original key has worn down and the new cut key is off slightly because of that wear, with older vehicles it's usually best to get the key cut at the Dealership using the VIN number, which will be like the original key when it was new, usually doesn't cost very much, a few dollars and some have said the Dealership cut their's for free.

The "non-flip" key like the one in the picture you posted is available for our trucks from the same seller we have purchased the "flip" style from. It's just personal pref. on the style you want to go with.

The link you posted is diff from the pic you posted and the flip style that we are using. I can find the link to the non flip on you are asking about.

I looked for the link to this key, but was unable to find it. Would you see if you can locate it? I have the flip key and it works great, but I'd like to try one of these too. Thanks!
