2 In 1 Key Fob 4Th Gen

Sooo.. I have been loving this "eBay" keyfob for awhile and all of a sudden the plastic broke on it. I am EXTREMELY lucky that I didn't lose the keyfob. I've been using it for maybe a year and a half.

I'm really hesitant to buy another... and now I have no way of attaching the rest of my keys to this. Any thoughts?

Can't hurt to email the seller and see if they'll replace it.

Mine is still going strong, on the original battery no less. Still 10/10 for me.

Honestly buying a new one isn't a issue but pointless if it breaks off after a year with the possibility of losing it. Would rather try a different type of keyfob that is more durable

2008 Sport.

Same I ordered from eBay. Bought two of them as spares, and had spare keys made so I have two extra sets. Super light, and work great.

Are you hard on yours (do you hook 7 pounds of keys and tchochtkes to your car key)? Was the break a fluke and should be warrantied by the seller? You are the only/first person that I have heard of having problems.

Mine is still going strong. Still original battery. No problems at all.
Maybe contact the seller. I’m sure he’ll help you out.

It rolls down the rear window. Theres not pop hatch functionality unless you add it with an aftermarket setup...which wouldn't open the hatch anyway hehe

I just got this one, and while it's really nice, I think the older VW style one is a little better. The button pressing is much nicer on the new one, but it's super easy to press the window button on accident. Rolled mine down in a rain storm twice this week. Luckily each time I caught it.

I've had my VW one for a little over a year. Still going strong!

I would message the seller. I'm sure he has a 5th gen version. It's just a matter of matching the FOB frequency and making sure you have the "g" transponder for the key. 4th gens have a dot on the key and a slightly different fob frequency.

I need to get a new keyfob because the plastic loop on my original broke. I already drilled a new hole in the keyfob to use to run the keyring through but that has also broke after a year (dealer broke it actually smh).

Ha! I had your exact same question, the seller was less than helpful. But I’m happy to help. I will say, I’ve gone mostly to using the new one. It feels much more solid. Might just be newer, but the old Jetta style feels cheap and kind of twists a bit when I turn the key. But I have never accidentally rolled down the rear window. It’s happened to me twice with the new one. Luckily the car make a loud beep when doing so. So I pay more attention now after coming back to an open window.

Newer style is probably a 1/4” longer and 1/8” thicker. Pretty minimal imo.

You are the absolute best! Thank you so much for taking the time to do that! And you even have the 3rd type that I was originally thinking of getting until I saw this switchblade newer key type. Now that I see them side by side, the newer type doesn't look thatttt much larger than the vw one so I think I'll go with that one.

When you accidentally rolled down the back window, was it because you pushed that button by accident or did it get pushed on its own in your pocket? Last question, this key doesn't have a Toyota logo on back does it?
