2 quick questions

1) we're going to be buying a SR5 soon. I want 4wd capability but not full-time 4wd. I want to be able to switch it back and forth from 2wd to 4wd depending on my adventure. Is this available.

2) what programming changes should I have the dealership make before we take delivery. I'm thinking seat belt chime warning and fog lights on when brights are on. What else?

Thanks

The SR5 is part time 4wd. It's in 2wd, unless you put it into 4wd when needed.

The seat belt chime would be a good one.

One that irks me, is the aux. console power is only on when you push the button. I think it should be constantly on, if the truck is on. I think Antman did a mod to fix this. (i'm scared of cutting wires, so i have yet to do it though)

The programming changes I had enabled were: 1) opening and closing the windows and moonroof using the physical key in the drivers side lock; 2) opening the windows and moonroof with the factory remote; and 3) making the doors NOT unlock once you put it in park.

There's a list of programmable features in the manual, so take a look at it and pick and choose what you want done before you go pick up the car. Also keep in mind some of the features may not apply to your particular model, i think it's just a generic list that covers all 4runners.

Lastly, there's no way to program the fog lights to stay with the high beams, you need to manually modify that like j_shoe99 by using Antman how to guide.

Now go pull the trigger already so we can welcome you to the 4runner club :)

These sorts of things require a dealership to program? These can't be done by the owner?

I haven't looked in to the list of programmable options, just sort of surprising that a dealership needs to apply these.

Here's the list:

There may be things here you'll want right away, others later. Regardless, I'd suggest you get in writing that the dealer will reprogram ANY options you want, even later on. My dealer (later) refused the seatbelt chime, claimed 'safety' issue.
