2 year long popping sound still unsolved..

For the past 2 years I've had a popping sound coming from my front right tire. I've had new coils installed, new CVs, new UCAs and I still have the same issue. The front suspension has been taken apart and put back together 3 or 4 times since I first heard the sound but I'm about stumped. The sound occurs after acceleration and sometimes when I turn the wheel. I never hear it at high speeds and it doesn't affect my turning or anything. I don't know what else it could be, does anyone have anything to offer?

Have you used a chassis mic to confirm it's coming from the right front? Sometimes, the noises can bounce around and they're actually coming from somewhere else.

I have the EXACT same problem on my truck. Also, we have the identical truck along with similar set up. I just bought sway bar bushings and front sway bar links. haven't put them on yet but hoping thats what it is. I'll keep this updated and let me know if you eventually find it first. It's noticable for me when i hit small bumps in the road on the right side and it just pops like something is loose. stay in touch
 
My first thought after your new parts is bushings. I have seen it several times, The sound can travel a bit but usually not from a different wheel. You need to look at the bushings all over from the suspension to steering and body. They can be hard to spot sometimes and a pain to chase down. Do you think you could of got a bad shock or a spring that is sitting right? I had a dodge truck with same issue and it was the bushings on trailing arms. On cars I see it with strut assembly's usually. Good luck with that one I know it cab be really annoying!

Replaced my sway bar bushings and my noise went away. I bought the energy suspension greaseable bushings 30 mm. Hope this helps. It was driving me crazy and glad it was a easy fix (except I sheared off one of the bolts and had to drill it out)

Hey Jack,

You ever find a solution to your issue? Sounds exactly like what I have where I get a pop during/after low speed acceleration, sometimes cornering and sometimes not. I flexed the suspension by bouncing on my winch bumper and couldn't get it to pop.

I had the same issue. Drove me crazy, as nothing appeared visibly bad. After some reading on here, ended up replacing the sway bar bushings (not the end links). Problem solved, and was easy to do. I used Moog non greasable ones.

Bingo! I have a popping/creaking noise on my left front and finally found the cause after some serious wheeling. The fender connects to the area in front of the door hinge, mine pops out and rubs. Off road it sounds like a creaky old wooden ship, push the fender back in and it's quiet for a few seconds until it moves. Take a look where any panel meets.

BTW, anyone know if that's a pressure fit or if I lost a bolt?
 
I want to update this post by saying that I still still not found the issue to this problem I have replaced my steering rack, ucas, lca bushings, lower ball joints, upper strut mounts, the struts themselves, both cv axles, it has a swaybar relocate on it, and has new camber/caster bolts.

I've taken it to a couple different shops at this point who have told me multiple different things, but at this point I don't really know where it could be coming from. I have taken it to Toyota, but I plan to take it over there again until they figure it out because at this point it is just ridiculous.
 
At this point id start checking the rear suspension components. Noises can be tricky to figure out and youve rebuilt the entire front end.
 
I had a smiliar noise that your having i found the noise coming from the lower control arm. I took my impact gun and tighten it down the guy at the aliment shop didnt tighten it down enough. Since then i have not had a noise if i was you ill take the impact and start zapping every nut or bolt just dont break them off

I have read and heard sway bar end links a few times, even on amazon in the review section. Take your sway bar off for a few days and see if you still have the noise. If you don't then its end links or bushings.

I just replaced sway bushings, so far mine hasn't popped, if it does again I will try the removal and then try links.

Is this a noise that you can hear all the time, some of the time, can you hear it with windows down or just with them up. Does it make the noise at all speeds.

I had a popping noise every time i backed up or turned the wheel full lock. It ended up being 2 things. The bracket for the Lower control arm took a hit when off roading and bent it enough to cause it to bind up. Also, the skid plate was bent slightly and was hitting the control arm. I was able to heat the bracket up with a tourch and fix it, and repaired the skid. Problem solved. I would have someone turn the wheel while you listen and feel around. That is how I found my noise.
 
Have a similar noise, i was actually in a random guys car and had the same noise. its probably something lose what it looks like.

I am going to go investigiate my sway bar, can you remove it on a ramp? i can probably put it on a ramp and go in with a crow bar and see if the sway bar makes a noise right?

OP have you jacked the car and hit the wheels and start to feel different suspension parts?
