200 miles on a tank?

Do most guys use 87?

It won't make a difference in power for at least a tank or two so the computer adjusts timing accordingly, even then you won't notice it. Unless its pinging/knocking for some reason (which should be solved in a way other than putting premium gas because something is obviously wrong). I used to use 93, and then realized that it didnt make two ****s of a difference if used 87

Unless you get a blower, stick with 87.

I'm getting crappy milage too. Like 14 MPG city. I even took off my roof rack and haven't noticed much of a change. I'm going to check my tire pressure tonight.

You might want to do that too. It won't have a big effect, but it is important to keep them at a good PSI.

I had mine a 36 pounds for a while, didn't notice a big difference over 32, except terrible ride quality.

My light comes on right around 200 usually. If I fill up then It'll take 12-13 gallons. I know I can stretch it out to 250 miles or more if I need to, but don't feel like taking the chance of running dry. Now that measurement is off of the odometer so I know I'm getting a real 230ish before the light. With the bumpers, tires, and armor, I guess I'm sastisfied with that milage.

My 97 auto 4cyl just hit 170k and still gets 290-310 miles to a tank everytime! All through the washington mountain winter, while buying the cheapest gas I can, driving in traffic, with a pretty heavy foot (says my wife). Bought it at 105k, kept up on maintenence (always synthetic fluids amd iridium plugs)

I usually get ~200 miles per tank. Coming from a 94 suburban, I wasn't complaining. The CEL came on today and when I took it to get the code pulled it came back P0420. Homegirl at O'Reilly said it was the O2 sensor. I don't know much about those things but I know they're pricey. I'm not too sure if it's definitely the O2 sensor (I've read some posts that say it could be the cat). I'm pushing 170k so I ordered some new plugs and wires – Denso/NGK respectively. Once I get those in I'll see if the CEL is still on. However the other day I did notice the Runner's exhaust was quite overbearing. On another note, I wish the Runners had bigger tanks (or could at least be modded with them). My 'burban had a 42 gallon tank. I want that in my Runner!

I've know of people that have put in an F-150 gas tank(forget what gen) in the spare tire area, that at least doubles the capacity. So they are mod-a-ble, but I'd venture to guess it involves some decent fabbing work though...

yes thats what i was hoping for when I bought the truck, hopefully I can see numbers like that soon.
Im at 122k and just bought the truck a few weeks back.

2.7 liter, 32" AT's, 4.56 gears, K&N intake to let it breathe, headers, cat, and catback to let it flow nicely, hitting 290-320 a tank.

Mixed city/highway. When put strictly on highway though, I will be honest, I usually travel at 85mph... probably should try 65 on a trip and see the MPG.

Old catalytic converter was clogged, the 2.5" cat did wonders. Gears took me from 14mpg avg to 17 avg.

I noticed a little when I changed the O2 sensors, too.

I dont want to get into changing gears, but I should look into changing the cat maybe.

The truck does have a strong emissions odder to it on startup if your standing outside the truck . ( But I figured it was 12yrs old , I think its normal ?)

191k, 3.4, winter gas, 50/50 Hwy/City, 80/20 4wd/2wd use= 220-245 per tank.

We should all be reporting MPG NOT miles per tank. Miles per tank tells nothing.
