FS: I have 2 power steering racks for a 2000 4Runner for sale. One brand new and one used... Heres the info:
I was replacing my original rack because the seal where the steering shaft goes in was leaking slightly and I had a small vibration at 70MPH after the tires were balanced. I don't know if it was the rack for sure (possibly the bushings) but I decided to just replace the whole dang thing while I was in there. I got a NEW rack from Toyota Steering .com and installed it well low and behold my new rack had a small leak from the pressure line so I loosened the rack so I could access the fitting to tighten. As I snugged her down I watched a small crack appear in the "upper housing around where the fitting screws in... Bad day for me. I pulled the rack back out and I accidentally cross threaded the steel fitting into the alum housing and it cracked it around the threads..
I had to get my truck back on the road asap so I ordered another new rack and now I have the 2 left over. A guy could take the good "upper housing" off the old rack and put it on the new rack is what im thinking. Im just outside of Sioux Falls SD and am willing to work with someone on these. I figure I spent 400 on the new rack maybe 250 would be a fair asking price for both racks but am up for taking a offer. 6 o 5-553-2one22 is my cell. Call or Text Thanks!
