The 2001 and 2002 models have a different rear brake assembly and different bearings, so it will have a different part number even though the axle housing is the same for all models. The august designation is because car companies bring out new models in the summer at peak buying time but we classify them based on the years end. So a model might be manufactured from August 2000 to August 2001 but it ends up being called a 2001 model. Its why a good parts person wants the vin number

Swapping a pre 8-2000 locker Axle into 11-2000 01 I noticed lots different with brake shoe hardware and wheel cylinders. wheel cylinders went from 1" bore to 7/8" bore for new brake system, 01 ABS Sys didn't like 1" bore cylinders.
Auto adjuster and stop lever different, on front side of Axle also. Both ABS Axles.

I've read about the Brakes.. Thanks for the info. I will go to the Dealer with the VIN.. I understand that will get me the right stuff for sure. Love this thing..I bought it off the second owner for $1,400

Anything made after August is considered to be the upcoming model year with the only exception of the 1996 model year which began in November 1995.
