2001 4Runner CEL (P440)

Hi Guys,

I need to troubleshoot my CEL code and get things fixed for a future sell.

My scanner shows P440 as the culprit code.

Emissions here in Georgia shows that the gas cap is good.

What do you recommend as the next step? Should I just take it to the dealer and have them run diagnostics to get a better grip on what needs to replaced (sensor, cannister, etc.)?

I am going to say yes to do that. at the end of the day emissions can be pretty expensive when you start throwing parts at it. Paying the diag fee can be the easiest thing you do with this. now I am sure a few gusy on here will chime in and say dont take it to the dealership. they may have more insight. I do not mind spending a few bucks to have my dealership diag my problems.

Check your charcoal can for cracks along bottom seam and around corners.
