after going to a local jiffylube to have my oil changed i was driving home and could smell a burning smell. seems one of these genius techs knocked an electrical wire onto my engine manifold and it arced itself out. problem i am having is now that i have stripped the wire and cut off the bad area i cant seem to locate where this wire goes. i found the end in the diagnostic box on top of the engine but im pretty sure that is not where it goes because there is no way for this wire to get in without popping the box open. if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it. this wire is purple and comes through my firewall along side a blue wire that goes to the underside of my hood. any help would be appreciated. this is my first ever post here and i am trying to add pictures to show where the wire comes from and where it comes out on the other side of the firewall.

Looks like a tach wire for a remote start system. I would check at your ignition coils for a similar purple wire. You may check also underneath your dash under the knee bolster for a remote start box, if you bought it used. You may luck out and not har to pay for one :-$
