2001 Starting/Charging issue Please help

My sons 2001 4x4 auto is having issues starting. We could always jump it and within the last few days we have replaced the alternator and Battery that both tested defective. We also replaced the battery terminals while it was all apart.

He comes home for lunch today and it is acting like it has a dead battery again.
After swapping everything out it has been running perfect. He checked the Alternator fuse, and it was good. I am at work and can't test to see if the alternator might have failed again but is there anything you guys have encountered as to another item I am not thinking of?

Could be that you have a new bad alternator. Or a massive drain on the battery. Have you checked grounds? Main one on engine block by oil filter (on 5vz). Also the little ground to the body? Is the alt and starter power nuts tight?

Bad alternator could definitely be it, especially if it isn't a quality Denso (reman BY Denso) alternator. A bad diode might not have been caught by a cheap rebuilder, which could then be causing the drain when off.

If you don't own a multi-meter, get yourself one. With the multi-meter, you can quickly see what the charging volts are at with the engine running and connecting the test leads to the posts on the battery. A healthy alternator should be putting out somewhere around 13.8 to 14.2 volts.
