Thanks for the reality check. I’ve seen trucks sell for this in the same condition.

Always amazes me when people feel the need to pop in a FS thread just to do stuff like this.

Never said it was perfect, as the first thread jacker clearly stated, it’s a “rust belt” truck. Given that fact, I still believe it’s in great shape. If you disagree, that’s fine but hey, keep on bashing/hijacking the thread.

I’m not a potential buyer, but I just wanted to point that out to you. It’s more awkward when the potential buyer shows up and points it out to you. That’s definitely a minor hole and I would not even worry about it in terms of safety, but it would also be my negotiating point.

I’m aware of the condition of the frame, it’s not perfect but the work I have done to it has improved its overall condition and extended its life.

Just as an FYI, I sold mine in March. It was a 2002 with 165,000 miles, basically the same mods as yours, the frame was also a lot cleaner, and I got $8,000 for it. It's a nice truck but you're still a couple thousand over what I realistically see it selling for.

No one insulted you, no one called you a name, everyone has been civil. You posted in a forum (which literally means a place where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged) and that is all that is happening. Your price is on the high end (more power to you if you get it) and people were letting you know from personal experience how they arrived at that opinion. This doesn't mean that you should change your price or they have a vested interest in whittling that price down, they were coming from a good place and you are getting defensive for no reason.

If you want to post in a place where people can't comment, Craigslist and AutoTrader are very easy to find. If you post in a community forum, expect those who know (even those who don't) to offer their take, it's not legally binding so you aren't required to do what they say; but just because someone replies to a topic without praising you for your pricing or offering to buy the truck doesn't mean you are a victim so there's no need to act like one.

I'll just say this. Anyone who paid more than $7000 for that truck with that hole in the frame (the tip of the iceberg) just got robbed by the seller. I'm SURE you mentioned that rust hole, didn't you? As others have said. This is a forum consisting of mostly 4Runner enthusiasts who know these trucks inside and out and know what a rust hole in the frame like that means. I would have LOVED to have someone point out the rust on my 1st runner before I bought it hence the reason why I'm a little sensitive on the rust subject as it almost got my son killed when the weakened frame bent like a pretzel when he got rear ended. But hey, you got your money. Sleep well dude.

I’m an honest seller and yes I sent over 50 pictures to the guy. I’m an enthusiast as well, and I’m aware of the issues these gens can have and the issues mine did have.

I just don’t appreciate people coming in, with no interest in buying, critisizing what I’m asking for my truck. Hopefully some people on here got some piece of mind knowing it didn’t sell for $12k, but I believe I got a more than fair price for it and got what it’s truly worth.

In my opinion, true enthusiasts don’t act like that in a for sale thread. I’ve been a part of BMW/VW/4runner websites and never had this issue.
