2002 Operation Blackout

Looks good! I'm ready for the rain to stop as well... Can't wait to see pictures of it all mounted up. Do you plan on doing the same with the rear bumper as well?

Yep ... going all the way around ... Front and side fenders next ... then back bumper & license surround ... I have a pretty nice little scratch on the back passenger fender, hopefully i can sand it out and paint it up and no one will be the wiser :rolleyes: :whistle:

After I finish that up I'm gonna see about getting a new set of vent shades and painting the roof rack ... its pretty bad faded ...

Anybody got any advise on getting vent shade adhesive off? I read a little ... goo gone ... 3m adhesive remover .. anyone tried heat yet? the auto car wash ripped mine off :yell:

Thanks! Its worth noting too that I spent some time trying to work with the lower valance lights as well ... turns out they are sealed the same way the corner markers are :noidea: Im pretty happy with the way it turned out ...

Yep, the only reason I don't want to do the skirts is because I have a 4 year old that insists on wearing hard plastic dress up shoes and she slides her foot all over the runners. I know that stuff is suppose to be durable but i DOUBT very seriously it would last very long under her foot.

As for the fenders and back bumper & trim and back license trim ... its all getting done ... just not the runners.
 
Ive been about as patient as I can stand, this stuff has cured about 48 hrs ... its suppose to rain later today but its dry right now .. anyone think it will hurt it to get wet this soon? Im paranoid because I don't want to paint it again ...

Did it cure in the dining room? If so it's ready.
 
DONE ... Sort of ...

Finally got the front on and lined up ... So all in total I hit the grill, bumper lip, bumper, and lower valance with Rustoleum Bed liner (tons of prep involved). I am pretty happy with how it turned out and I believe its gonna look a 1,000 times better once I make my rounds around the truck hitting the fenders and back bumper and trim.

I decided to take the bug guard off but will probably spray it with the bed liner and add it back on ...

One word of advise when putting a bumper back on ... Take it ALL off (brackets and all) and do what you are going to do ... when you get ready to put it back on work from the inside out ... bracket arms first, then front bracket, bumper and valance ... you will save yourself a lot of trouble and it is much easier to line up.

Enjoy the pics ... any suggestions are welcome ... I will post some better ones tomorrow the light sucks in my shop ...

Has anyone had their wheel weights moved to the inside or had them swapped to stick on? I wanna nice surface to paint up ... what has been your experience?
 
Bumper is looking sweet!

Operation Blackout would look sick with the inside of the headlights black (not the front lens, the inside back).

We have had good luck at our shop using ceramic beads. I am going that route next time I have tires mounted. Haven't yet searched the forums to get other opinions.

Agreed ... I eventually will add some new ones up there ... Just a hold-me-over fix for now ... gotta spend the money a little at a time so the wife doesn't freak out HA HA HA!

Thanks man, I don't wanna paint over the ones that are there and I'm about a 1000 miles away from a rotation anyways, I'm probably gonna have them do it then and dip them after I get that done ...
 
Better pics

Finally got it out in the light to get a good look ... I think i have the fever ... Gotta get this thing painted the rest of the way!

Wanna throw some bigger tires on ... anybody got a 2" body lift? what tires r u runnin'? spacers? Pics appreciated ... I run mostly around town but like the look ... occasionally I get her dirty a few times a month but nothing that would warrant a full time off road tire ...

I know this question seems redundant to other threads, but I know 265/75/16 are about the biggest I can run stock without scrubbing ... Let me be a little more specific ... what do you think I could get with spacers and a 1-2" Body Lift

Chrome Help ...

Last winter I hit a patch of ice coming off the interstate pulling a trailer and slid right across it no problem ... Until my trailer decided it could beat me down the road, it hooked and hit my bumper a little bit when it jack knifed. Has anyone knocked out chrome with the hammer and 2x4 method? any success? I am painting it with the same bed liner I used on the front, so it doesn't need to be perfect ... the dent isn't but about 4" long and very light ... just deep enough to attract your eye. I just want to get most of it out and hit it with black bedliner to cover it up.
