2002 Sport wheels trim ring losing it's chrome

Hello all,

I have a 2002 sport and as you an see the silver is coming off the center trim exposing the yellow plastic. So my questions are:

1. What have you guys done or recommend doing to fix this and make it nice looking again. I was thinking silver spray paint??

2. If the solution involves removing that trim piece, how do you remove it?

I really appreciate any advice you guys have.

if you can take the logo off, do that and wet sand the plastic with 320-400 to feather the flaking, then spray them. that is what i did with my covers.
if the center doesn't come off, get some fine line auto painter's tape, it's blue and comes in 1/8 and 1/4 in, and mask around it and proceed as mentioned above. pretty simple.
or, buy new ones.

"Rustoleum Metallic Silver" spray paint is a dead match for the rims. I painted mine (off the vehicle) when the yellow was starting to show through and they look perfect now, two years later. No clearcoat or primer. Take the caps off with a flat screwdriver. Wash them well in degreaser type cleaner (Dawn dish detergent). Dry, and paint. As said above, you will have to mask the chrome center.
