May not be the the right place but same motor and you guys have been helpful. 2003 taco 3.4 auto. Short background . 2003 dc trd 3.4 auto. New timing belt , and everything in the front of the motor , plugs , wires, fuel filter , air filter all 300 miles ago . Went out the other day 3 cranks of the engine and clunk it stopped and went clunk , hit it again with clunk and again clunk , then battery seemed dead. Charged and then it cranked with very little hit as it was gonna start.no check engine light "yet" . Held pedal to floor the it hit and started lots of white smoke that smells of pure gas , it dieseled a lil bit then cleared up . After about 2 min the check engine light came on and it quit. Put the scanner on it and got code p2138 which says throttle/ pedal position sensor/ switch.
So I'm gusseing I had hydro lock??? , anyway I went to the local Toyota deal / we ain't got that shop and they said I needed a tps . So I went to advance and got one 3 prong ...... Not what I needed , mine has 4 prongs . So back to the Toyota shop and said the tps part number 89452-35030 was not a good number , with it in my hand with the Toyota part number on it the said it was no good and I had to get a who new throttle body . I hit up advance after find and random post about a part number which I will post when I get the part , that is for a 4 prong tps .
So with all that said does it sound like the tps or???? Any input would help .
