2003 4.0L V-6 coolant drains on block?

Can somone instruct me on the proper way to collect coolant as it drains on from the rad/block.

Is coolant or antifreeze an oil based product? I've always thought of it as radio active green stuff. (in general)

Can I collect it in a oil catch can, or should I use a large bucket.

I'll bring used coolant back to a garage for proper disposal, but just wanted any insight you guys can give.

You will probably want to use a tub or bucket. Avoid contaminating your oil catch can, since motor oil is recycled. In my area they will not accept oil that has anti-freeze/coolant, brake fluid or another fluids mixed in it.

That's too much dang DIYing for me! I'm too lazy for all of that wigwag. I'll be taking my truck into the dealer for its 30k checkup and requesting the long,long,long life coolant.

Thanks for the excellent writeup as I was with you for the DIY through jacking up the truck and taking off the wheels. But from the mud flap forward that's when I called it quits and decided on the stealership. This is one of those rare times that I'm not going to mind being a victim of theft from the dealer.
