2003 4runner SE V8

V8 Runner

Hello everyone, I have been on the forums for quite a while now and haven't had much to contribute so I've decided to make a thread for my 4runner. I bought it late summer 2013. It had a little over 200k miles when I got it. I plan on doing some minor modding to it. Probably nothing too extreme.
There are several things that needed to be replaced, including timing belt.

Here's some pictures from the day I brought it home.

My rear X-REAS look the same..... Still seem to work well and no sign of leaks (so far at least).... :thumb3:

Some goodies i installed recently. Bilstein 5100, Spidertrax Spacers, Control arms and coil spacers.

Wheel cap got stolen but it seems cooler this way with the blue accent from the spacers.

PIAA JDM yellow fogs

New Control arms

How it sits. Had to plasti-dip my wheels due to the bubbly surface from the salt. I'll probably have them painted when it gets warmer.

V8 runner, that is bad ass with the plasti dip rims. I have the same exact 4r and i've been wanting to get my rims painted black and have been looking all over the net for the same exact rims in black! how does the pasti dip hold? Does it chip from the snow/salt? how about car washes?

It usually holds up pretty well. I slacked off a bit and hurried the dip a little so it bubbled up a little but other than that its just scratches from when i got my tires replaced. I have plastidip on my other car when i put the stock wheels on in winter, it holds up really good. Had it on those wheels for 2 years now, still holding up pretty well. And yes I have been to the car wash multiple time and theres nothing to worry about. Just make sure you shake the spray can well and that it is in room temperature. Do like 20-30 mins intervals between each coat. I did about 5 coats but you can do more if you like.

I also dipped the front grill, side and rear badges and added a bug deflector. (this picture was from before all the mods from above)

V8, what kind of lift do you have on yours and how does it perform? Did you have to mod anything or go bigger on tires? Im planning to lift mine soon as well.

I have daystar coil spacers and bilstein 5100. I had to get new control arms cause of the wear and tear on the stock ones but other than that no other major modding. I did eventually get bigger tires and it is rubbing when i turn it all the way. But i think it can be fixed with the right alignment to the control arms. One thing you have to watch out for though, my front axle tore a little with the lift. Not sure if this is a common thing or just cause my 4runner is old. I'll post more pictures when i get the chance to.

You should check out NJshadow93 's first build (a moment of silence) and look into plasti dipping the grey cladding black. IMO, it would look bad ass!

Thanks. Just looked at his thread. I dont know if i have the patience to do it lol. I thought about doing just the front middle section right under the grill but im not sure if it'd look right cause the 4runner is already 2 toned.

Yes, patience is important for it. Well worth it when I did it though IMO.

Took some pics in the snow

Nice! But I'm ready for spring already :violin:
