2003 SR5 4x4 TIRE QUESTION

I live in Michigan and need new tires. I've been reading reviews on every website and blog I can find. And it's the same thing on all them... one person SWEARS by the tire... another says it's the WORST tire they've ever owned and had an accident because of it. So I wanted to reach out to the 4Runner community - to people that know 4Runners and can speak directly to tires being used on 4Runners.

I do some off-road, but it's limited. Mostly want a good all around tire that is especially good in wet conditions AND snow. Actually not all that concerned about dry... as every tire I've ever owned is fine on dry (i don't do high speed cornering or high performance racing).

Any recommendations for wet and snow tire (all season)? All price ranges (including very expensive) will be considered for the right tire. Help!

Welcome! There's many good choices and as you pointed out there's many opinions too. Some of the favs for your use seem to include Goodyear Silent Armours, Michelin AT2's, Revo's and on the cheaper side the Firestone AT as well as others. Search around the Performance Zone of this site for lots of similar threads and discussion of upsizing as well.

ill 2nd the GY SA, i found them very good in rain,in snow was good too. they look good also, just were not aggressive looking enough for me. im also very happy with what ive got now, theyre heavier feeling, but nice all around.

I just put on a set of Yokohama AT-S about a month ago. Haven't got to test them in the snow yet but on pavement they are amazing. Quiet and smooth. Also, very little weight to balance. One tire/wheel required zero weight! I almost went with the BFG's in the 265/70/17 size but it would have been a lot more expensive (with the addition of a matching spare) and the reallity of it is that this runner doesn't see hardcore offroad trails or anything like that. We shall see this winter how they do. The way I see it, if the stock dunlops did good with everything I threw at them these tires should do just fine.

Thanks CJ3! This is super helpful. I've heard good things locally about these tires... but none of the people have 4Runners... so would be curious what you (and others here) think of the following (again, keeping in mind water and snow traction are primary focus for me):
