2003 T4R Ltd and iPOD using DICE - Completed

BAD NEWS

Uh man. My dice is no longer responding to commands. It is wierd, I can play my nano, if I go to cd1 and then use the nano manually, but nothing else works (including switching to Aux in, so no direct sat radio for me which blows).

Anyone else run into this? Time to call the company.

jacal, you may want to disconnect the battery to reset everything...I did call DICE the other day and he told me, when starting the truck, turn the key on and wait a few seconds before actually starting the truck..its worked every time so far...he also mentioned an upgrade coming out in a month or so

Good call Iron - unplugged the bat for 5-10mins and everythings fine again.

This is why I went with Vais (and other threads like it). You do need playlists, but I have not had it act strange yet (going on 4 months).

P.S. I am not in any way affiliated with Vais.

The 6 cd works fine. I have the jbl 10 spkr with 6 cd in dash. Too bad my DICE can't stay alive!

And for no good reason it started working again. It has been 100%.

Too strange. To try to recover it the first time I disconnected the main battery. That worked, but the next time I started the truck it was gone again. I left it for a couple weeks, then tried by pulling the fuse to the radio. Didn't seem to work. So I forgot about it again, and the only other thing that happend up to the time it worked again was that I physically reconnected the ipod to the computer to update some songs. Maybe that helped? I had done the ipod reset to no avail prior to that.

I just hope it keeps working. I LOVE it!!!

Same problem as jacal

Thanks to all for the info, I just installed a dice into my 04 4Runner last weekend just by following the instructions linked to here.

I'm having the exact issue you described, so far only discon/reconnecting battery resets the unit ( brings back the CD Init initail screen and brings back the wheel and radio controls) but it keeps losing the link or something, sound is there but no controls from the head unit...

Dice support sucks, never got back to my two support requests, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

try flickin the key...that works too...remember, give the dice module a few seconds to boot up...I installed the module in my glove box...when it weirds out, you can disconnet the 12 pin to reset it...it works for me....I dont have to do that very often...I'm quite pleased with this module.

I like the idea of keeping it accessible in the glove box. Since my those 2 issues I have not had any further problems. They also never got back to me for tech support. Isn't there a "new firmware" comming?

About the aux input - are you guys getting any alternator whine when you use it?

In the past, with the icelink version, I would "crank" the engine and it would reset (mostly)...

You know you could get the ipod intergration kit from your local toyota parts department at the stealership if you have one. It works alot easier
