2005 4Runner Navigation Unit: To swap or not?

I'm sure that others will chime in and will correct me if I am wrong, I hope.
From what I understand, Factory installed Nav unit is not an all in one unit like the 2005 Solara Unit is. From what I can tell by looking at the 2003 Factory installed Nav units, there is an additional component for the Nav DVD which resides in the rear vehicle compartment. This leads me to believe that the swap would not be plug and play but doable none the less.

The 2005 unit is an all in one unit which is why they got rid of the cassette player with the 2005 NAV, no room for it Only the subwoofer is located in the rear compartment now. It's the green lights that do it for me. I'd rather spend the money on a coastaltech piece or something to add the XM but that's just me.

Where did you find out the 2005 4Runner NAV unit does not have the XM Sat features. I was under the impression that my 2005 NAV, E7005, was compatible with the Toyota XM unit. I have heard it is very similar to the Solara NAV with the digital output.

To answer your question:
I was under the assumption that the 2005 4Runner Nav unit does not support satellite radio because:
1) It does not have the "SAT" button on the right,
2) I have not seen a press release from Toyota announcing XM Radio availability in the 4Runner,
3) There is no indication of it being available in any of the Toyota literature, and
4) The number of people on this forum who use FM modulated Sat radio.

I also never see mentioned whether or not you lose any vehicle-specific functionality when switching over to the Camry/or Solara Nav unit. Any ideas on this?
I really have no problem purchasing a Solara unit and changing over the LED's. Not a big deal, just a little time consuming. But perhaps the best idea would be to check out VAIS Technology's offerings when they become available this summer, or Coastaletech's.
