Hi. I've been ready to purchase a 2005 4Runner V6 Limited but I hear from dealers that Toyota is not making navigation an option for the V6 model. Only the V8 has it as an option. Does anyone know if this is 100% true and whether or not Toyota will ever make the V6 Limited with an optional nav system? Thank you

sounds a little odd, since nav and v8 are both a part of the limited options independent of each other, nothing on their options page says anything about nav coming with v8 only either. sounds like maybe the dealership doesn't have a v6 with nav and wants to sell you a v8?
Funny you mention that because I too went to CARSDIRECT.COM a couple of weeks ago and saw the exact same thing you I just got off the phone with Toyota and they tell me that sure it's available but perhaps NY dealerships only requested the V8. This is becoming so annoying. My zip is 11214. Thank you

good call, i remember the dealership saying how they spend a lot of money on research to put together factory installed options for different regions. but how the heck they decided to pair nav with v8 in ny is beyond me! ummm maybe: full-time 4wd with v8 is good for common snow storms on east coast... and snow storms means no visibility = need nav too?? haha, must be marketing research interns at work!

Go to www.toyota.com, navigate to 4Runner and "Build your own". No Nav option for the V6 appears, but it is there for the V-8 models. Go figure!
I see the rear air suspension option also appears to be history. Too bad. I have it on our '03 V8 Limited and it's great for towing.

i don't know if i believe that 'build your own' feature. it shows all the V6 as 4-speed automatic transmissions when in 2005 they have the 5 speed autos. also it asks you for your zip code before you build your own; i'm thinking it's because it affects which option packages you get to choose from. looks like to get the v8 limited you have no choice but to get the nav (atleast for my zip code). according to the two choices i got for the limited v8, getting the x-reas and drl is a couple hundred CHEAPER than just getting curtain and side airbags with everything else being the same. don't know why i found that a little suprising. i have all the options below from both and thought that x-reas costs more than the curtain and side air bags...

It's up to the regional managers
The regional managers for the state or the region of the country make the decision about what options to offer and what should be the standard vehicle to order based on previous years' (and other models) orders. In New England, you can't get side air bags unless you get the V8 Limited. Not so according to KBB and toyota (if you input a different zip code). The configurator on toyota.com will only allow you to configure your vehicle according to the regional managers ordering charts.
However... There is nothing stopping you from special ordering a vehicle. Most dealers will try to get you to buy off the lot of buy what they have coming in, but if you fight them enough and have the time to wait, you can get exactly what you want.

I don't want to go there and then suddenly be told oh sorry I made a mistake and we dont have it or sorry it will take a few months. I want to be certain that more than 1 dealer can get it. At least that will make me feel a little more confident in what they say.

Interesting enough, it appears that on buyatoyota.com under build your own, the NAV system only appears in the option packages on the V8 Limited...
I had a friend buy a car from carsdirect.com and the selling dealer DELIVERED the car to his house. Never had to step foot in a dealership... said it was all a no haggle deal. Not sure how good of a deal he got, but if you don't like dealing with salespeople, it was certainly worth it to him.

My truck was special ordered this way and it has every single option that was available for the 03 limiteds. It took a couple months though..
