90-100k sounds about right. Smart move, your on the right path with changing the water pump and thermostat while your working in that area. That's what I've done with other cars/trucks and what I'll be doing with my 4R when I'm at 90-100k.

correct, V6 has a timing chain that doesn't get changed. Only the V8 has a timing belt and I believe that is scheduled to be changed every 90k...

$450 in just parts! Dang man, I got it quoted at my stealership and it was only $500-550 they told me. Luckily, The Yota dealership I bought my runner from had already done the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat along with putting new tires on it...bought it with 92k on the odo.

Consider getting your water pump checked. When my V6 hit 90k my pump started leaking around the time I was asking the same question you are asking right now.

Dude, are you really trying to argue this? ALL 4th Gen 4Runner V6's have a TIMING CHAIN, not a timing belt. It generally does not require service until the 200k mark. You can't see a timing chain (V6) or a timing belt (V8) unless you remove the covers. You SHOULD inspect the water pump for leaks around the 90k mark, as mentioned above.
Of course it has a serpentine belt too, both V6 and V8 have em. Serpentine belt drives the auxiliary functions, like a/c. This belt does need to be changed on a regular basis, I changed mine at about 75k. You should inspect it for cracking or glazing. It costs about $30 and takes 10 minutes to change.

Not trying to argue but I am trying to help the OP out as I am sure you want too as well. The OP's question (and another one added) are referencing info on a belt change that's normally changed at the 100k mark which is usually the serpentine belt that is visible and attahces to water pump, power steering etc. You can buy a serpentine belt for less than $50 so the posted prices of $450-$550 are ?? ANd the other post showed multiple V8 info of parts.

No, the OP was referencing a timing belt in his post and the subject of the thread. We were merely telling him he does not have a timing belt, if he has a V6.
The serpentine belt should be checked before a 100K. It should be changed when needed, not at any specific interval. It should be checked at least every year or so. I would say every oil change or about anytime you have the hood open. You just look for cracks or other wear.
