2005 v6 swapped in a 2006 v8

alright can I take a 2005 v6 and put in place of a v8?
Are any of these the same?
Trans ? converter?
Radiator ?
Any other issues? I do have a complete donor truck

lots of really nice 4runners with bad V8 engines. I have a parts truck with a good engine. I also have a 2005 limited with a V6. This is the third one ive had. I like the V6 ,, It doesnt seem the V8 holds up well. I have duramax trucks for power. I just like the 4runners for daily runners.

Does anyone know if the swap will work? Or atleast if the trans is the same? My parts truck is 2 wheel drive ,, the V8 truck is 4x4 ,,,
Im just looking for some help on this, I really love the 4runners. Ive had 6 total , 2 just in the last year, Im die hard chevy guy but you just cant beat toyota for reliability. I rebuild about 20 wreck trucks a year and about 10 custom trucks that are different in there own ways. I do 4x4 conversions and put duramax engines in about any gm truck I can. so am capable to do the swap, I just wanna lesson the learning experience . lol

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with these V8's? Is there a rash of people snapping timing belts or something? The 2UZ-FE is a pretty damn bullet-proof engine, so hearing that there's a lot of them with bad engines is weird to me.

As for trying to swap it in, I imagine motor mounts might need to be adjusted (I don't know off the top of my head if the V8 frames have the mounts in different spots compared to the V6), radiator and such should be okay; electrical will need to be modified or the whole harness swapped, modules (ECM, Immobilizer, ect.), and such needs to be swapped over from the V6 donor vehicle. You'll need the matching exhaust to the muffler if I remember right.

It's doable, but seems like a lot more work that it's worth for the V6...

I don't think the V6 is any more or any less reliable than the V8. The V8 is an interference engine that needs more maintenance, but other than that, holds up just as well as the V6.

If you have donor and recipient and plenty of labor available, go for it. Should all work. Same tranny and everything as long as the V6 is 05+.

Don't pursue this, it will be the biggest headache and not worth the money. The V8 is an excellent engine and just needs maintenance like any other.

There are no known V8 failures. Those auction vehicles are likely abused.

Guys it's really not a "bullshit" thread . My life is auctions to buy , fix and flip trucks . Duramax trucks are my speciality . But I love the 4 runners . We usually park are shinny custom trucks for winter and drive the4 runners in the winter and as run around trucks over the summer . So because I watch them at the auctions all the time there is ALWAYS some really nice trucks that are not wrecked but listed as mechanical issues not running ! Facts are facts , I do this for a living . So because I would rather do a engine swap then collision repair I'm started thinking about the engine swap route ? Plus I happen to have a 2005 4 runner for parts . I used the front clip to repair a wreck . Anyhow I just thought this might be something I could do so I was looking for help . But I will figure it out regardless . I was just hoping for some help to save so time . The trans was my biggest concern . Because I can get wrecked 2 wheel drives pretty cheap . So then a nice non wrecked non running 4.7 truck because there are plenty . Well any how ,, thanks for the helpful advice ,,

The rear-end ratio is different for the V6 (3.9x) vs V8 (3.73). So, swapping in the V6 will leave you with a little less low-end response than stock unless you swap axle gears as well.

Awesome Job man. I bought my V8 at an auction too - the only thing wrong with it is its missing a upholder insert and shift lock button. If you wanna sell any extra ones you may have hit me up!
