2006 projector headlight lightbulb options

I've got a 2006 SE with the projectors. Happy with them but the stock lightbulbs are a bit on the dim side for where I live. Looking for something brighter, maybe xenons or otherwise, I don't know much about lightbulb options but would like to upgrade. For those who have upgraded lightbulbs, what are you using? Thanks

Check out Xenon Depot - a forum sponsor. 4300K is the truest "white" bulb and will give the highest output.

I like the Sylvania Silverstars for the upgraded stock bulbs. However if youre looking for a true upgrade go with the xenon depot hids.

Im sure you'll get a lot of people singing the praises of their HID kit, but I wasnt ready to start doing that with our 2 4Runners.

I put in Sylvania Silverstar Ultra 9006's. Def. a HUGE improvement, but nothing as huge as an HID kit would give you for results.

I've done the Sylverstar XFE's on my low & high beams and was very happy with them. Although they are somewhat pricey and I've heard they don't last for too long either.
I did order an HID 5000K kit from DDM tuning, which has great kits for much cheaper than other companies. It's for my fogs and I will install them in a few weeks once they get in. From what I've read and observed, the 4300 is a little more "off white" if that makes sense and the 5000K is more of a "pure/true white".

retrofit is the best option, u can do the quick retro from theretrofitsource.com, or u can do something better than that. do what i did and put some lexus rx-afs projectors in, i think the non afs is a direct swap, but that is better than the 4runner projectors, but the afs version needs some work and its a better option.

Xenon depots kit is the only true worthy upgrade. Everything else is worse than stock.

hid kits should only be a temp solutions, but if u want better results a retrofit is better. its worth the investment.
