2006 SE with NAV and RSE

What state is your dealer in? If you want that private, I understand, could you tell me what region your dealer's in or send me a PM? California dealers are telling me they cannot special order a Japan built Toyota, only US built. I want to get a V6 Limited with navigation.

I am in Virginia, however I did not order mine through a dealer. I ordered mine directly from Toyota through a family member that is a Toyota associate. As a result I was able to order any option individually that is offered on the 4runner. In other words, there were no packages that I had to choose or was restricted to. As I never ordered a Toyota through a dealer, I do not how that process is different.

I cannot say how much I paid for the truck since I got it direct through a Toyota associate. Do not want to get them in trouble. However, my sticker MSRP is $40,034. I bet it is the highest MSRP for any 2006 SE on the board! I know it is $6k above all the SE's at the local dealerships.

Great looking truck! Congrats! Oh and BTW, you may be able to purchase a bypass for your DVD unit so that you can have DVDs actually play while you drive. Ofcourse we all know they purposefully design it the way it is stock for safety reasons...but hey...rules are meant to be broken. I know there is a device available in Europe for this.

Are they building 4Runners in the U.S.? I just assumed they were all still built in Japan currently. I knew that several other vehicles were built here but thought that 4Runners were still Japan only. Maybe it just the V8s???

I believe all 4Runners (both V6 and V8) are still made in Tahara, Japan, JD Power's Platinum plant for at least the last 5 years. I meant US built like the Tacomas, Corollas and Camrys. Sorry.

I wanted a special order because I want a V6 Limited with navigation. The only 4Runners with navigation in Northern California are V8 Limiteds.

Oooooh, I see what you mean. That really does suck that you cannot order exactly what you want. Is it more or less, they look on the sheets to see what is available and in their network? IS there any particular reason you did not want the V8? Gas mileage or price? Believe it or not the V8 4Runner models are rated more reliable than the V6s...even though we know pretty much anything Toyota brand is gonna hold up well! The '06 I just bought was sold to me for $750 below invoice. I know they had 05s V8s still left over for $3000 below invoice. Quite a deal but liked the '06 revisions myself.

Uneek, I live in Northern Cal. also and, from what I have found, it IS possible to special order a 4Runner from Japan the way you want it. That said, the dealerships really don't want to do this, mainly because they want to push the SUV inventory they already have. If you insist on it, you can probably order it. One downside, though - it will most likely take a few months to arrive.

If NAV is the main option you want with your 06 V6, have you considered going aftermarket? I have my 4Runner on order right now and as soon as it arrives, I'm getting the Eclipse AVN-5435 CD/DVD/NAV unit. The bonus of this unit is it's made by Eclipse, who is made by Fujitsu-Ten, who makes the stock stereos and NAV in our toyotas. Very similar in design and function... even your steering wheel controls will work. Plus, it's about $1600, which is less than the stock NAV. Just another idea if you haven't considered it....

Nope, special order is only to get options that are available to a particular trim which is not normally ordered by the regional distributor, (i.e. navigation on a SR5, but no X-REAS on SR5 or third row on SE). But for your relatively simple request, talk to the sales rep and he might be able to pull some strings at the parts department and get you the wheels for a small upgrade price. Some dealers who change the wheels out for bigger aftermarket wheels can help too, I've seen a few dealers sell "take-offs" on eBay. Wheels typically have less than 10 miles, the highest be 25 that I've seen.
