2006 Sport - HOJeepster

What was the price for install? Out here in denver as well. Thanks.

The total invoice was $1,325. Took them 2.5 days to complete. Not cheap, but all things considered, this was really the first time besides the Timing Belt that the truck has needed 'real' servicing, so I think its worth it.

I picked up the headers from Burtman Industries group buy for $685 - so its about a $2k project. I have 180,000 miles on my truck, and felt it was worth it to fix.

As far was videos - I'll see what I can do. It's not muscle car loud, if anything, it's nice and quiet...until you get up to 3-5k rpms then the exhaust note is much more V8 and pleasing.

Glad you got yours on! Mine are in a box in my backseat area still. I'm going to check out a place called Wicked Rigs down here in Pueblo before I start looking at a place up north. Long way home and more cost into a rental. Since I'm in a no emissions area I've considered completely cutting out the cats but not sure I want to deal with any CELs.

I just wanted to share some feedback on my setup for those following.

The truck now drives like a full on tank. And by that I mean it's a purpose built vehicle, heavy, truck - and not a stock 4runner. No more sport utility on the highway. Going 80 mph to Utah this weekend I was just sucking down gas, trying to keep it straight, and had to pay attention to the road. Not to say it wasn't enjoyable, but to the point, the character of the car has evolved. It's just bigger and heavier.

The V8 with the new headers still rips. If I want it to, it will bite down and go. Gotta love the hustle of these V8's. I get about 15 mpg highway, and about 14.5 combined. Almost repectable given the weight and tire size with stock gears.

The KM2's are loud on the highway. Not horror movie loud, but just loud. If you're going from highway tire to these, be prepared. They hum.

Yet, at the end of the day, this truck still performs what it loves to do - drive 800 miles on the highway with "ok" gas mileage @ 15mpg, hit the dirt trails with full gear and 3 adult passengers, sets up a bad ass base camp, and tackles any road I point it down. Its pleasing to the eyes, has a nice exhaust note, and fires up every time. Just some thoughts to ponder on as you may or may not be building up your own vehicle. I think the key is to determine your trucks purpose, and find that "balance" of what works for you. Sometimes bigger is not better....sometimes it is. A 32 inch tire will still get you to similar places, and probably more effeciently.

But at the end of the day, the entire purpose of the 4runner is to get me to places that others can't, and to do it in my own way....:

Enjoy your journey

Hell yeah!!!

Good summary and a sentiment I share. I find it crazy when people come on here saying something like "what should my next mod be?" :redbrick:

Build the truck you want! What's the line? "I didn't build this truck for your approval, I built it for mine!"

My son (FZJ80) and I leave for Moab Saturday for the week. Looking forward to not breaking a CV on my first run like I did not too long ago.

i wish the headers were CA legal :(

Looks great! Its all worth it when you're cruising home all dirty and someone points and gives you a thumbs up on the way home.

I'm coming out to play in the San Juans a week from today, hopefully I don't encounter any snow left on the easy loops I have picked out. Looks like it was well worth it though.

You should be fine, they plow the Alpine Loop (most of it).

This was up in Wyoming's Snowy Range. It seems like anything above 10k elevation still has snow pack.

Have fun, San Juans are unbeatable.

I picked up a Tepui RTT for adventuring. That's frost on those panels in August,#wyoming

And went up to Wyoming to backpack:

Drove 1,100 miles over the weekend:

Dope sauce on that green screen backgound. Grand Tetons are so pretty its fake:
