2006 SR5 v6 4x4 Not Starting - searched posts

Hi all,

I have a 2006 SR5 V6 4x4 as stated above. It has approx 126,000 miles.

It has been very cold here in NY lately (sub zero temps).

Friday, I drove the truck to work, left mid-day for an errand and came back. At 4pm I went out to head home for the evening and when I turned the key nothing happened.

There was plenty of power to the truck, all accessories powered up fine but when I turned the key there was a slight singular click, like that of a relay and nothing else.

I towed the truck home that night, and poked around Saturday. Put a test light to the the cable for the starter and found power. I removed and cleaned the connections - power & ground. Still nothing.

I even put a jump pack to the battery and still nothing.

Towed to a shop Monday and they can't seem to figure it out. Sounds like they replaced the starter and got nothing either.

Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Heh. I just spoke with the shop and they said the starter was definately bad but when they put a new one in it wasn't working and that they suspect the ECM and "theft computer" (I think is what he called it) won't communicate with the scanner module.

He wondered if someone tried to jump it backwards but I am pretty confident that didn't happen.

Sounds like a dead battery to me. You can have enough power to run lights and accessories without being able to turn the vehicle over. How old/what battery did you have?

I'm curious to see what happens.

I really don't think it was the battery. I would be super embarrassed if it were.

The shop says the starter was definately the problem, but now the ECM is bad and needs replacement. They bought a used one for $350 and should have it tomorrow.

On top of it, the power steering line is rusted down at the bottom where it runs along the cross member and needs to be replaced.
