2006 toyota 4runner, dash noises, vents not working

i have a 2006 4runner, recently the four front dash vents have barely to not at all been working, the feet vents work ok, and the defrost vent works, cant figure out why.

Also after shutting the car off if you wait and listen the dash starts chirping and buzzing like there where birds living in it, sound seems to be from the passenger side.

Any help would be awesome, thanks!!!

Sounds like the vent control actuator is bad/failing, not common for Toyota as it is Chry-corp products. Unfortunately I do not remember if it is easy to get to, you may have to take the dash out partly or completely to replace it.

I was going through the service manual and it looks like you can run thorough diagnostic HVAC checks on all sensors and actuators as the system is completely electronic which will display a diagnostic code on the air conditioning control screen.

Hmm, I remember some of our older stuff had some "manual DTC check modes" like that. Do you have a link or a .pdf?

Service manual I got was downloaded from this site. I figure it is a good starting point.

I have to admit, I did not go through it with a fine tooth comb and hope that there is not a piece of special Toyota diagnostic equipment that must also be hooked up to vehicle to run a diagnostic scan.
