2007 4runner Sport Edition - or shall I say... Plasti-dip Edition

I think it looks good. But if you do get bored, you could always do a satoshi grille and keep the plasti-dip look.
I do have a question though...did you plasti-dip your lugs also?

EDIT: I see the grill comment was referrring to ThirstyTurtles pictures.

The satoshi grill is in the back of my mind. I love that look but I feel I need to make the 4runner look more aggressive first (spacers, roof rack, light bar... something like that) in order to really pull it off, similar to the pictures you posted.

Yes I did plasti-dip the lugs. I lightly sprayed them after I put the wheels back on the car.

I already had the center bar painted black from last year (regular spray paint) but it was REALLY chipped up, I'm hoping the stretchy texture/nature of the Plasti Dip will make it less vulnerable to chips.

Thanks a lot! I debated for a while about the badges being the smoked chrome or black but I think they sort of get "lost" if they're black against a black background. Plus they match the headlight bezels still which is nice (although I'm sure EVENTUALLY I'll black those out, but I've done 2 sets before and it's a weekend affair for me).

Haha, I DID have black wheels and if I had a time machine I'd go back in time and tell myself about Plasti Dip! I actually sanded and painted them when I first got the truck because I had no money to do anything else to make it different from everyone else's. Well I liked it but once I lifted and got tires and some other little things, I wanted them silver again so I spent a TON of time stripping the old paint and repainting them silver. I actually like them more now than the stock texture/color, they're damn near color matched to my body now. I didn't mean to but my car is becoming only two colors, light silver and matte black...and I'm loving it! You'll also notice that I removed the center caps and painted the rear hubs black so there's a large black ring (tire) then a smaller silver ring (wheel) and then a final black center circle (hub). I love them!

Just wondering..if you saw a used 4runner on a car lot, with black rims, all the chrome painted, badges taken off and jacked up with aftermarket rims/tires...would you buy it? (price being equal to an identical one that this hasn't been done to)

I probably would not--because it would seriously make me wonder what else the PO did to it.

That's the best part about everything I'm doing to the 4runner. The plasti-dip is easily removed, the tires could easily be traded for factory dunlops, and I could remove the daystar lift in about 3 hours.

Back to factory!

I just enjoy seeing people add their own personal touches to mass produced vehicles. Makes for a much more interesting 4runner forum.

Don't laugh... the Mother's Powerball4Paint with Meguiar's NXT 2.0. I do that about once every two months. In between car washes (wash with Meguiars NXT Car Wash liquid), I use Meguiar's Ultimate Detailer Spray.

For the tires, Black Magic Titanium gel applied with a sponge and spray the wheel wells and mud flaps with NXT Insane Shine.

The only reason I use all the NXT stuff is because Amazon has a pretty good package deal. Amazon.com: Meguiar's NXT Wash & Wax Kit: Automotive

Just clean the area and spray it on. I've done about 30-35 minutes in between coats. I did 4 coats on the grill for my car.

I did my grill this weekend but it looks a little un-even in color. I took my time and stayed an equal distance with equal coats. Anybody else had this issue? Does the sun eventually even it out?

I did mine pretty haphazardly to be honest and it looks quite even...

Im going to let it sit out in the sun for about a week and if it doesnt change ill prob just rip it off and try again
