2007 Aux iput jack

I've got a new to me 2007 SR5 with the basic stereo and audio options. There is an AUX input in the center console armrest and I'm wanting to plug an iPod into it. Problem is that 3.5mm jack doesn't fit into the AUX input. The diameter is fine but the depth seems half of what it should be.

I used a mirror and light and can see inside of the jack and it doesn't appear that anything broke off inside.

Whats the deal? I searched and read through the manual and it doesn't seem that a special male-male cord is needed and the one I use in my other vehicle is not working.

Any help is much appreciated.

Mine is an 06 and I use just a regular 3.5 jack to connect my phone to the truck. plugs in fine and hit the aux button on the radio to change the input

This happened to me, check the tip of your aux cord to make sure its even there

I'll give it one more good look to make sure nothing is in there. I did the 'ol Bic pen jack probe and all seemed well. Simple, I may be interested in you AUX jack. I guess in further diagnosing I'll pull the jack and if it's no good I'll buy yours and install it.

Yeah, you shouldn't need any special cord. I have a 08 and it uses a regular aux cord. My guess is something is stuck deep inside.

You might need a new AUX port if the internals are damaged. Otherwise you will not be able to select AUX on the stereo when plugged in (there is a contact inside the plug that needs to connect upon the 3.5mm cable getting plugged in)

Fixed it.

I pulled the center console plastic and popped the aux jack out from behind the plastic. The guts slide out of a plastic housing and the back side of the 3.5 mm jack hole is covered by a small clipped in cover. After removing the cover I was able to poke a seal pick in and eventually dislodge the tip of an aux cord.

It was stuck in there pretty good and one of the side contacts were bent inwards holding it in. By pushing it out from the back side the pieces kind of set themselves back in place.
