2007 T4R re-wiring for a small trailer

Been driving for 24 years, but am new to wiring a small boat trailer. My 2007 has a factory installed 7 pole/pin outlet. I bought the converter to change it to a 4 flat, but my problem is I believe is the independent turn signals on the car from the brake lights, don't allow the trailer's lights to do the same thing. I have to converter it as I've been reading to try to figure this out.

Is there a harness with the 2 plug ins that match my 2007 factory plugs (which is 2 plugs with 7 wires all together) that will convert the wires and end up with a female 4 flat, so my trailers lights will blink for a turn and light up for stopping?

I have no reservations in doing this myself, I just want to stop buying the wrong things. Thanks. -DYI

I run the $8 Pollak adapter on our utility trailer without issue. What kind of adapter did you use? pollak adapter

Our boat is 5 pin so I use an Optronics adapter: optronics adapter

I used a Hopkins 7 blade to 4 flat adapter, plugged trailer lights in and didn't even get brake lights or turns to work, so my thought was it was the car's "independent turn signal and brake lights" feature/wiring that was the problem. I then got Hopkins Converter 48895 4 Flat to make my car's wiring compatible with the trailer wiring, but I wanted to see if there is anything easier out there I haven't seen before I start to splice...hope that makes sense. thanks

Is the trailer new-to-you? If so, the trailer's wiring could be wrong.

Example: We bought a used camper in June, and the PO "fixed" the wires so incorrectly, they wired the brakes to the reverse light, so it couldn't be backed up.
