Well, if you look closely Koz, the gap is increasing every month...Ford sells about 60K F150's every month...Tundra is about 22K. GM itself is selling their twins extremely well. This is why i wanted to see actual sales numbers before. Tundra has a very long way to go...it's not even close (as YOU claimed)!

Your percentage statistics were misleading...and YOU KNEW THE ACTUAL sales numbers (provided with the %'s), yet you WITHHELD the information to prove your point. That Koz is a dishonest way of presenting data in an argument!

This is true but even with the domestic sales of these trucks Toyota has just moved Ford out of the number two sales position in US and has also become the number one car manufacture in the WORLD.

Toyota takeover is NOT because of it's truck sales...it's from it's car sales (aka Camry). Let's get real here.

I would love to see the numbers for each manufacturer excluding fleet sales. Toyota has fleet sales throughout Aisa (like Mercedes has throughout Europe), but GM, Ford, and Dodge own the US and much of Central America due mostly to the incredible discounts they offer businesses to purchase "US" made products. Toyota cannot (or will not) reduce their prices for fleet sales to match. So what would most business owners do... 2 F250's or 1 Tundra... Hmmm.... Oh yea, all GM, Ford, and Dodge full size trucks have a Diesel available, but where is Tundra?

I love the new Tundra, but I think the best it will ever do would be 3rd.

Isn't it misleading to say that the gap is increasing when the total amount of vehicle sold is plummeting every month/year?

The domestic pick-up will never fall to Toyota, we sell 6 times the amount of vehicles. :infidel:

We're still talking about trucks, right?? Ford went up by the same amount as Toyota. Chevy went down and Dodge stayed the same. Yet, ALL of them still sold a ton more than Toyota, despite Toyota advertisements and steep incentives.

So, Koz, why did you withheld the actual sales figures?? That is the real question regarding this thread. And then you claimed this:

In fact, Ford outsold Tundra 4.7 to 1. Chevy/GMC twins outsold it 5.7 to 1...so 6 times is close but a bit too high.

(and yes, i know that Tundra was introduced early this year, so it's not a totally fair ratio i posted...but since Koz asked, i answered.)

Thanks for posting something that we already knew. Yes, Toyota is getting a few of the domestic truck customers, but it is still far far far far far far from overtaking Ford or GM in truck sales. And Tundra sales are not skyrocketing either...as you can see above. Weren't Toyota ranked dead last in truck sales last year (and forever before that) too?? So, how did the new Tundra change things?? It's still last.

The domestics can , sell , sell , sell , but can't even keep their head above water. They are leveraged to the hilt !!! It will soon collapse on them , they don't have the funding anymore. That is why the big 3 are all trying to get a foreign mfg. backing and no one wants anything to do with them at this point.

With the kick butt fire power Toyota has in its line up with excellent SUV's and trucks and cars its only a matter of time..........

I could be the salesman of the years if I sold stuff for no profit.

I still think Toyota needs to introduce a diesel Tundra to really compete. The current Tundra is good against the 1500 series GM and the F150, but really can't compete against the F250 and F350 and 2500 series in payload and torque.

Oh yeah, i hate Toyota so much that i own 3 of them (2 currently) within the past 5 years and created a forum for one of Toyota's favorite SUV! Oh yeah, i have never owned a Nissan nor a Ford. I did own a Chevy Sprint (aka Geo Metro) long time ago in college...that is about the only domestic brand that i owned/driven. So much for your argument, huh?

It's in the works. It may show up as soon as 08/09. The market for 3/4 -1 ton pick-ups is very small compared to the 1/2 ton.
