I've talked to them on the phone a few times this year to request one, but I also added my name to the swarm of suggestions that they'll now get.

It seems that Fort Knox has taken over the designs of the now long since departed R&D Handgun Safe. Fort Knox for a long time now has only made one of the designs of R&D, but it seems is now producing two more versions.

I can guarantee that the simplex lock is quicker and easier than either the key or dial offered by console vault. And this is made of a thick stout steel.

I just went and measured and the dimensions of this box will work in our console, but will require either moving or covering the AC outlet. Also, figuring out how to mount the sucker is going to be a problem due to the approx 3" of open space that will be below the box.

I had one of these in my 2010 Sliverado and loved it! Especially as someone who has a CWP(Concealed Weapons Permit) and carries pretty much everywhere I go, its nice to have a secure place in the vehicle to be bale to leave it if I have to go in somewhere where I cant carry. Im going to be picking up one of these things ASAP.

Do these allow for full use of the outlets inside the console? Also, do they require any sacrifice in interior console space?

From what I've read they allow full use of the outlets in the console. Im not sure if you lose any space inside minus the very top of the console where the combination and metal door is located. Ive been thinking about ordering one for a long while because i pretty much have my center console full to the top with random stuff i don't want to get stolen. The only bummer is it looks like it doesn't meet the rules for transporting firearms in California because it is stored in a console which California says isn't an approved location.

UPDATE: I just bought one, ill post some pics when i get it installed. I searched around and saw tacoma world has a special going on right now on the vaults so if you enter coupon code "tacoma" you get $10 bucks off. I figure Tacoma's and 4runners are practically brothers so thats ok.:hatsoff:
