2010 4Runner one radio issue

I've got a 2010 4R and it has the basic non jbl, non navi radio. It has the blue tooth sinc, sat nag and "party button". For about a year off and in my volume adjust nob doesn't work. Now it's all the time. If I go to raise the volume, it will go up 3 or 4 notches then down by 5 then up again by 8 then down by 6. Same it I try and lower it. It won't lower at all it jumps way high way fast. Truck only has 65k and have never had this issue in any of my other Toyotas. The dealer told me they'd pull it out and send it for it for rebuild but want $550+!!! Anyone else have this issue and have a fix or a cheaper place to repair it?

Just the knob or the steering wheel controls as well?

Any electronics repair place will be cheaper but I'd guess your cheapest option will be eBay or a junkyard. Heck at 550 you can get a pretty decent aftermarket head unit.

....or, buy a take-out from the classifieds here. There must be several guys with a head unit sitting on a shelf.

They won't 'rebuild' it, they will install a reman unit.

I'd go to a u-pull yard and see if you can score one.

Mine does that too....it noticeably started this about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. I just use the steering wheel controls now....they work just fine. I have 86k miles on mine.

Yes my steering wheel still works but the knob on the unit itself doesn't.
