I am going to try something new... Every Thursday if you guys like this I will bring up an old 5th gen thread that has not seen the light of day in a long time. I will try to find an interesting one. Let me know if you like it! Interesting to read the first comments when people saw the first no camo pics lol. Enjoy!

hey guys i was surfing the car and driver site and low and behold there are spy pics of the 2010 4Runner with out camo!!! Sill undecided on the new styling but i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and reserve judgement until I see it in person.

where is the ground clearance? where they publicized as"back to its rootS"..

why is it wearing a skirt?

big headache for aftermarket bumper..


Edit: it could be different if we see it in person, looks like those pics are out of proportion, maybe taken by a cellphone cam.

Me too. I have been excited about what has surfaced today.

I agree, the new 4Runner looks like a Honda...Pilot. Looks too boated and CUV like.
 
If that's the 5th Gen 4Runner.. NO THANKS ! I'll keep my 4th Gen. IMHO - that's _ _ _ _ UGLY ! :barf:

Yes, it's due in October in Canada. If you want one, go to your dealer and ask for the ordering chart and they can order you one based on the ordering chart they have.

In Canada, 4WD and V6 only. However, the Trail Edition finally makes it to Canada.
 
I hate it... They went from nice looking 2&3rd gen, to sporty 4th gen, to a box.

I always though the 4th gen looked mean/aggressive (when you put better tires on it), that 5th gen looks like something a woman in her 50's would buy.

It looks so... boring. I'll wait until I see it in person, but, screw you Toyota, I'm keeping my 4th Gen.

Hell yeah that's the ugliest thing Toyota has ever created.. they must've been drunk when they designed it, looks like a giant square/box... wtf so disappointing.

Like anything we will have to wait to see it in person. But from these pics I am extremely disappointed, you guys are right on - Its a quasi Honda Element, Pilot, juiced Scion Xb thing, by no means a purposeful man's on/offroad SUV.
Someone should have taken the designers pen away, 54 cut lines ago.

And as for the interior.....Toyota seems to be hell bent on cheap plastic, tack on bits, space ship looking, jap crap looking, cheez ball dashboards.

Going to get myself another scotch, and drink it pretty. I am sure it will grow on me, but right now I am not happy!
 
Ok, a few observations.

I like the new placement of window switches on top of the door panel, should make more space in the door pockets.

I like the turn knob HVAC controls, big improvement.

I dislike the tacked on center stack, I had really hoped it would be more integrated and less cheap looking than the 4th gen.

I like the symmetrical speedo and rev counter, I can deal with the tin can turret bezels poo idea that they wont get rid of. Hey, maybe just staring at the dials wont cause scratches like on the 4th gen!!

Pic 4 - looks like there is a manual shift lever for 4WD engagement?? :biggrin2:

That squat, short nose, integrated bumper, bulldog face, mass of metal between top of the wheel arch and belt line just screams grocery getting Pilot, likewise the rear has too many diagonal cutoffs where a squared of corner would have done fine.:hunter:

I do like that it is taller, perhaps you 6footers wont rub your head against the roof now!:bravo:
 
you guys are right about the Honda Pilot. when i saw it in person...even with the vinyl padded covers, you could tell that it was a boxier shape...very close to the new Pilot. i was hoping that the panels were giving it the flatter panel look. but i guess not.

well, even if i loved it, i would wait for the 2011 to come out anyway. so i guess i have a year for it to grow on me.
