2010 4runner spy photos w/ NO CAMO!!!

i thought i heard it had a push button ignition--is that a sticker on the side of the steering column or an key ignition switch? what i hope is that they didn't cut corners and charge the same price. i'm still exited--diggin the boxy snub nose.

Ok, a few observations.

I like the new placement of window switches on top of the door panel, should make more space in the door pockets.

I like the turn knob HVAC controls, big improvement.

I dislike the tacked on center stack, I had really hoped it would be more integrated and less cheap looking than the 4th gen.

I like the symmetrical speedo and rev counter, I can deal with the tin can turret bezels poo idea that they wont get rid of. Hey, maybe just staring at the dials wont cause scratches like on the 4th gen!!

That squat, short nose, integrated bumper, bulldog face, mass of metal between top of the wheel arch and belt line just screams grocery getting Pilot, likewise the rear has too many diagonal cutoffs where a squared of corner would have done fine.:hunter:

I do like that it is taller, perhaps you 6footers wont rub your head against the roof now!:bravo:

I'm 5'10" and have to sit with my seat adjusted to the floor.No headroom and sorry pedal placement-angle are only two of the reasons I'm waiting on a new Tundra.

Does anyone else find the small-ish (and squared off!!!! nooooo!!!) wheel openings awful compared to the amount of fender-to-hood sheetmetal???

In pictures, that interior looks terrible!!!!!!!

I just do not see the "back to its roots" in these pictures.

My enthusiasm for the 5th gen is waning.

I hope it looks better in person. The interior looks okay but on the cheap side. The back end looks decent. I don't like the short hood, front fenders, or upright windshield. It looks like a Scion Xb and Rav4 had a love child.

Wow.... I'm REALLY glad I didn't wait for the 5th generation and got myself a 2009 last week. The front takes direct styling cues from the Highlander, mainly the front lights. The worst part is the interior dash.... those looks like REALLY cheap plastics. They are similar in look to those in my wife's 2009 Matrix/Vibe and they are really cheap and easy to scratch. The general square shape of the back really do looks like a Pilot.

The inside looks so cheap, I can't believe how much they went in the wrong direction with this! My 04's interior looks very nice has an almost Lexus feel to it. That thing looks like it's an interior out of a cheap base line car of the 90's.

Way to go Toyota for just ruining such a great vehicle. First they kill the V8, and then come out with this boxy looking design, that looks just like every other SUV they make. I just can't get over how bad that interior looks.

Instead of lookling up the link and then writing about what you think, I went ahead and posted a few pics from Car and Driver here.

Right now, I am no overly impressed, but not overly dissapointed. I mean they could of done worse.

Autoblog just ran a story about the 4runner and they listed the probable engines as the 2.4L and the 3.5L from the Camry...outch... that's a solid miss.

I think autoblog got it wrong. To me this secret memo makes more sense. A 2.7 not a 2.4 4 cyl. and a 4.0 not the 3.5 V6. Going with a car engine, does not make sense, IMHO.

Wow.....As a 2005 4Runner prior owner I'm uttlerly speechless at how terrible all aspects of this are. If the C&D pics are real (don't see how they couldn't be), and the rumors of the dropped V8 are real, Toyota just lost a sale.

How could the 5th gen 4Runner be sooooooooo UGLY?!?!?!? I mean, this is terrible! It looks like a 4Runner and an FJ Cruiser got drunk, had a mistake, then kicked it in the face with an ugly boot!

No V8 option - This is too bad. The 2010 4Runner with the 310 HP 4.6L V8 and 6spd seemed like a perfect match! Something is fishy here though, Toyota didn't design a brand new V8 engine just for the Tundra - this engine has to be going into another Toyota truck - my guess is the new Lexus GX. If not that, then there is something else not out in the open yet...

The Tundra, GX, Sequoia and possible future year T4R when/if the current eco(nomy) changes. They will realize the number of lost sales, especially with the trailer crowd. Don't forget the current Toy commitment to have a hybrid version of every vehicle in the near future. When that whole bubble bursts or blows over they will react accordingly.

After seeing those pics, it looks like my 2005 and I will be together for MANY more years. If I was giving up the V8, the design would have to be amazing. Unfortunately, the exterior design is too boxy and has been subjected to the new Toyota design trend. The back looks way too much like the Highlander and the front is a mix between the Pilot and Element. The 4Runner looks more like a mall cruiser rather than an off roader. As for the interior, plastic and cheap are the only two words that come to mind. I must say, I was optimistic when I saw the Toyota promo pic.

I will be optimistic and say the poor quality of those pics are distorting my view. Hopefully my opinion will change when I go to a dealer and take one for a spin.
