Hey All. I picked up a 2010 4R May '13. Only 1 key worked, the dealer has since reprogrammed 4 times , and changed the battery each time. The fix lasts about 3 weeks and then it stops working again.
The key warning light will come on and it's alarm will start to chime WHILE IM DRIVING. I've pulled over for gas and not been able to restart. Dealer told me to hold fob against start button for one last emergency start. It got me home.
They have since done a full diagnostic of the security system and told me it was set way to high.
We'll that was 3 weeks ago and yesterday it was back to not working again.
I am at a loss now, this dealer is obviously not going to correct this problem.
I'd like to take it to the dealer up the road from me , but I didn't get it from them and warranty doesn't cover the keys.
Yeah they first tried to tell me warranty doesn't cover lost keys.
I said " it's not lost ass crack! It's in your hand,"
Service " Same thing,"
Really Don Valley North Toyota! The same thing is it.
They will cover the 200 km tow though , so I'll do that every week.
That might start to add up for them ??
Oh , it's only ever the one key, the other has not failed yet.
Any one have any suggestions for me?
