2010 TE Sunroof issue

Hi,

I have a, new to me, 2010 TE with a sunroof issue. I wasn't able to find anything here.

When the sunroof sliding close automatically, it will hit the Wind deflector bracket, which is suppose to bring the deflector down, stop and reopen automatically. When closing manually or when driving at highway speed it would close normally.

Anyone had this issue or/and have a solution for this?

Hi Gabriel,

Give this a try... Open the sunroof fully. Look down at the track assembly from up top and make sure that there's no debris in the track grooves; the sunroof is designed to stop and back off if it encounters an interference while closing e.g., fingers, hands, etc... "safety feature". You will likely find something that shouldn't be there.

manually in that case is without using the Auto closing feature.

Nothing in the track that block the sunroof. It's strange because if I try to block the sunroof when closing using my hand, you can hear the motor working harder for a short time and then reopen. But it only take a small touch to the Wind deflector bracket to reopen instantly.

My next guess is that I may have a faulty safety switch that cause to reopen the sunroof. I'll try to push the sun roof up or down while closing to see if it will reopen also.

As the window hits the wind deflector, it's supposed to push it down and slide over it. I still say a little grease where deflector contacts the window frame might help. I dunno. If you try this, clean the area first.

If that's not the area creating enough friction to interfere with the auto function, then it must be on the top of the window frame when contact with the deflector creates upward forces and pushes the window up into the slide channel.

I'm stumped otherwise.

So yesterday I've rechecked everything. I found out that when the sunroof was closing and I was pushing up slightly on the glass on the front right corner the sunroof reopen automatically. Also, when manually pushing down the deflector from outside when it was closing was working since the sunroof didn't have to push down the deflector.

So, while I was there I've clean the track and put some new grease just to make it right. I've also played with the sunroof to find out a pattern(pushing down/up when closing/Opening), blocking with my hand, etc.). The result of all this, since last night they are no more issue. I'm guessing that the grease did the trick here or I have a good karma, but I'm not sure if it will be working for long. Time will tell.
