is there an easy way to remove the antenna from a 2011? I have taken a pair of plyers and tried to take it off, but it seems to not be going anywhere.

unfortunately the righty tighty lefty loosey isn't working for me. are some of them not a screwable antenna?

Mine was actually pretty tight too.
An 8mm open end wrench is the correct tool for taking it off as it has flats for a wrench but a 5/16"(7.93mm)open end will work too.............unless you rounded it off already with pliers.

yeah mine came off with just my hands. I'm not going to lie, I got pretty strong hands, chicks dig that. haha But, seriously, mine was so loose i'm surprised it didn't fall out on it's own.

good luck man.

oh yeah, you're turning it the correct way right? I hope you aren't tightening it!

Took mine off also, came off easy. I don't like the height of them, so I put a shorty antenna on, so far it works great, but I'm mostly XM, and CD's.

i'm having a hard time removing mine by hand too. won't the wrenches leave a mark/dent on the antenna in case i might want to put mine back on?

Had to get some pliers and twist mine off when I was replacing it. It wasn't as easy as everyone else has been saying.

As for damage to the antenna, there are marks at the base from the pliers, but I'm sure if you wrap it before hand you should be ok. If not, you can always spray plasti dip on it or spray paint to cover it up. I haven't used the stock antenna at all. It's just sitting in the secret compartment.

Boy am I having a rough time getting that sucker off....using the proper wrench and it still won't budge.....yes I am turning it the correct way! I am concerned that if I turn it too hard it might break the base.

The dealer installs these, one of my friends in Colorado said the dealer put locktite on his. Good luck!
Mine was loose from the day I drove it off the lot.

Yikes....humm, that gives me an idea! Heat gun....I have hit it with kroil penetrating lube and that has not worked yet....sometimes warmth will soften locktite but not always....

Thanks jhawk

Mine came off easy until the dealer reinstalled it during it's first oil change. It was nearly impossible to remove until I used a crescent wrench.
