TORRANCE, California — The 2011 Toyota Sienna will start at $25,060, including an $800 destination charge, when it arrives in showrooms in February, reflecting a $280 decrease over the outgoing base 2010 Sienna. But the price cuts do not extend across the board for the redesigned Toyota minivan.

The top-of-the-line 2011 Toyota Sienna Limited all-wheel-drive model — the only all-wheel-drive offering in the segment — will start at $40,570, including destination. That is a $1,905 increase over the comparable 2010 Sienna.

The sporty 2011 Toyota Sienna SE, a new addition to the lineup, will start at $31,350, including shipping. It bundles such items as side skirting, smoked headlights and taillights, standard 19-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and exclusive instrumentation and colors.

Toyota said the rollout of the redesigned Sienna will start in February with the arrival of the 3.5-liter V6-powered base Sienna, LE, XLE and Limited models. Four-cylinder Sienna grade and LE models, and the SE grade are not due to hit showrooms until April.

The 3.5-liter V6 generates 266 horsepower, while the 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine generates 187 hp. The four-cylinder engine is being offered for the first time in the Sienna.

Remember, 40k for the Limited does NOT include all the options...so, with all the options, you're looking at around $43-45k. My Sienna Limited 2wd with all the options had a MSRP of $42k. Of course, because it is a minivan, you can get discounts on it...and i got my minivan for $39k out the door (TTL included). But, yeah, these minivans are expensive because they have a lot of features (power doors, NAVI, memory seats, HIDs, rear seat entertainment, top-notch stereo, radar cruise control, etc) that you see on more expensive Lexus. Actually, for $42k on my Sienna, i have A LOT more features than what you would get on a $42k Lexus RX350.

I figured it'll probably be $45k for a fully loaded Limited AWD. The $40k is the base price. It'll probably command close to MSRP for the top of the line too, since there won't be many made and dealers know those who are seeking out a feature rich vehicle won't want to compromise.

But then again, who in their right mind would spend $42k on a minivan?!! So, this is why Toyota was discounting my Limited. Yeah, Toyota may not make many Limited, but the market is extremely small too.

BTW, AWD system on the Sienna ain't that good...save the money and get 2wd. If you live in winter states, then get good snow tires.

Just saw a truckload of the new Sienna's on the freeway tonight (along with a RAV4). Looks like they're arriving at Toyota dealers now. I like that Toyota chose to evolve the previous version rather than redesign it completely. Sport version looked damn good for a minivan!

Unfortunatley I think I will be in the market for one of these in the next year or two. The 4 runner is currently the family care for my 2 1/2 year old and 5 month old and it's shrinking rather quickly. I say unfortunatley because I was one who SWORE up and down, left and right that you wouldn't catch me dead in a mini-van. Same with my wife, but they just make a lot of sense considering we're going to have a 3rd child eventually and we don't want 2 SUV's. So she gets the van, I get my 4 runner back.

I wouldn't mind driving the 3rd gen Sienna when I need a minivan. Hopefully, it'll be a XLE or Limited.
