2012 LE Owners and a Tire Pressure Question.

I have a 2012 LE on the inside of the drivers door it recommends 32PSI. however I have been experimenting with different pressures and find that the vehicle rides better and has less swaying at freeway speeds with the pressure at 35 PSI. Does any other LE owners see the same thing?

I have a 2011 LE with 52000 miles on it and just changed the tires. My tires wore more on the outside, which is an indication that 32 psi may be too low. But, the dealers seem to inflate them to 32 psi which is the spec.

35 psi is just fine. 32 psi is a middle ground average considering a"soft ride" vs a better "fuel economy". A stiffer sidewall usually translates into more road stability (less sway), as you have indicated.

An excessive over inflation will cause the center of the tire's tread to bulge, and wear sooner than the outer edges of the tires (both front and rear).

A severe under inflation will cause the center of tire's tread to "cup", causing both inner and outer edges to wear sooner.

Front outer edge wear pattern as you have described, is caused by
excessive positive camber \<--front view-->/ , not low tire pressure.

When this happens, the top of the wheel leans too far outward, causing the tire to ride on it's outer edge. A front wheel alignment will compensate for this.

Forgot to say, I replaced my O.E Geolandar 245/60/R20 (2012 Limited) and went up to a larger/wider, GdYr Eagle LS-2, 275/55/R20 about a month ago;
WOW...what a difference!!

The manufacturer's recommendation for these is 44 max psi, but I'm only inflating to 40 psi. I think I'm getting plenty of stability from running the 20" rims. I opted to use less air pres. to gain more traction through increased surface area and higher friction (softer tires).

I wanted to post a few more tire pics so I'll do it here. But before I do, just a note to put things in perspective.

You notice the third photo that I posted above, the one with the 2 tires standing up, side by side?
The one on the left is the O.E."Yokohama" Geolandar. That tire is still on the rim, and fully inflated to 35 psi.

The other is the new GdYr 275/55/R20, not yet mounted on the rim. Look @ the diff in the width...

Can you imagine; the Geo is fully inflated next to one that's not! Ok...enough of the rant
