2013 4Runner - what to pay?

Awesome thank you for that information as we might go the 13 4x4 route SR5 if we can't get the 14' for the price we want.

I just researched a little earlier in the week, on autotrader i just searched for 2013 models only, alot of new ones came up and a few used ones, alot of the new ones were 4x4 sr5's around 31-32k, it would say the msrp right above it on several dealers ads and they were around $35-36k, so it looks like several dealers in my area are putting some discounts on them... i thought that was a pretty decent price for a new 13 4x4, used 2010-12's are goign for 25-28k around here, so i would be better off buying new.

Yeah she doesn't have a huge need for a 4wd, but I am the one that would rather her have it if she needs it at some point in time rather than wishing she had gotten a 4wd if ya feel me.

So whats yall's take on the 14' TE NON KDSS that they are willing to sell at $36,477?
Invoice was $36,005, which to me was weird being MSRP was $35,975?
Would you take the offer?

I see you're in FL, may be looking for a 2wd so i just searched and there are a few within 200 miles of east TN (where i live) for 29k brand new SR52wd....
here is a link if you want to see one.

I have a '09 Sport Edition with XREAS, and a '13 Trail with KDSS. Both of them handle beautifully for an SUV, with the KDSS being at least as good on corners but a little better handing rough pavement. The fact they're essentially frame on body truck designs, makes their driving characteristics quite remarkable.

I came out of a Porsche Cayenne S into the '09 Sport, but didn't feel like I'd lost a whole lot in the handling department. While the bigger / higher Trail has a completely different feel, nevertheless it corners dead flat and the steering with KDSS has a surprisingly quick response time. That's not even talking about the major difference off road.

I've been in several non XREAS 4th Gens, and originally drove the 5th Gen without XREAS before the Trail was available. It's very noticeable what a difference one or the other suspension packages offers.

A lot of people here change out to after market suspensions like Icon. All of them will tell you what a difference that also makes to the ride and handling (in a completely different way of course).

With no intent to denigrate anyone else's rig, I wouldn't even consider buying a Trail without KDSS, unless you're intending to go aftermarket on shocks or suspension. It simply makes no sense to pay close to 40K (with taxes and license) for a new vehicle, while leaving out the one option that makes it a very special drive and ride.

MSRP $35,725

That makes complete sense and this 4Runner will not be getting modded to heavily as its going to be my gf's and I have a 2010 Sport Tacoma modded to death. I would agree completely on getting the KDSS as those are the ones I have been looking at this past weekend and only being 1500 more. Why not?

That '14 TE seems nice but a lot depends on how your gf will be driving. Looks like the delta cost between that and the '13 SR5 could be in the neighborhood of $5k...
I know its a personal choice but I've owned many cars and some of the ones I really cared about cornering in were a mitsu 3000GT and lexus is250, etc. but when it came to the TR4, i simply don't drive an SUV the same way and don't care too much how fast i can go around a corner, plus I'm not going to be doing very aggressive off-roading, though I did go ahead and get 4x4 because I like the confidence of having it in case i need it. So for a driver like me I didn't think the KDSS was necessary. I did end up getting after market wheels with negative offset that pushed my wheels just a bit further outboard and for me, I think this SR5 handles excellent... just my .02

She isn't a speed demon and treats her vehicles very well. I have looked at numerous 13's and they all seem to be priced within 2-3k of a '14 so seems to me better off buying a '14. I am one that likes all the bells and whistles, but I guess my main question to everyone is what should I pay? MSRP, Invoice, Below MSRP? Is anyone getting a price below MSRP on the sticker as they don't seem to be budging much with the '14s?

I'd say you should pay somewhere between invoice and (invoice+500) for an out-of-the-door '14 4Runner before taxes and DMV fees. Ignore MSRP, and if a dealer doesn't budge, find a hungrier dealer.

Good deal so the quote I was given was pretty dead on. It was around 1k over invoice only $600 over MSRP. I have been emailing around today seeing which dealership will work with me. Thanks for the response. Anybody else have any input or does this sound about right?

Whats normally the difference in Invoice to MSRP?

Don't have the Trail numbers handy, but e.g. for a 4x4 base SR5 without any options the invoice is $31,900 and MSRP is $34,700 for the difference of $2,800. Each option that you add will increase the difference between invoice and MSRP. For example carpet mats are $140 invoice and $225 MSRP, the Entune Premium package is $521 invoice and $585 MSRP, etc.

Do you work at Bob Tyler? I just saw your signature? I'm in Pensacola, FL. Nevermind is that just advertisement at the bottom?

Here is the latest.

MSRP 40,172.00 dealer invoice $37,729.00
Trail '14 w/ KDSS. They will throw in mats and running boards out the door for $37,500 + tax + tag + license. Should I run with this as fast as I can?

LOL? No? I don't have a .sig?

May I recommend AdBlock to you?

:-D

I am interest to find out if that is a good deal as I am in the market for a new 4Runner but dont know whether SR5 or Trail Edition with KDSS? Not doing any off road but more toward cold/snow condition.
