2013 Clear Coat Issue

I apologize if this has been brought up before. I saw some older gens with clear coat issue but wanted to see if anyone with newer gens have seen it. I have a 2013 Black with 27K miles on it. Was washing it yesterday and noticed for the first time a bunch of spots on the hood where the clear coat is failing. The car is garaged when it isn't at work. The issue is only on the hood the rest of the paint is fine. The small specks in the picture is pollen. Will be bringing it into the dealer to get it fixed.

I had multiple spots on my '12 and brought it to my dealers attention 4 or 5 months after I purchased it. The wouldn't do sh!t for me. hopefully you will have better luck than me. On a side note, i noticed a spot on my hood before I purchased and they agreed to repaint it before I took ownership.

Clear Coat fail

Is the hood protection film covered under warranty? What's the period of warranty for accessories? If it is covered, and it was failing for reasons other than abuse or road damage, they should have covered it. If it fails due to the clear coat materials or application, they should have replaced it, repainting the hood if necessary.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks more like the clearcoat has been damaged by something like bird poop or tree sap. I've had bird poop do this on two cars. Not sure what kind of bird caused it, either - but I WILL find those little bastards. Some day...

Looks like its from bird droppings. The acidity in the droppings are what causes the etching in the clear coat. Its recommended to always wash it off that day before it mars the clear coat.

Sorry for the delay updating This thread.

Not from bird droppings I have actually had very few bird droppings and they get washed off right away becauae I can't stand them, and this is all over the hood.

Clay bar would not fix this the spots are very ruff clearly needs be sanded down and repainted.

Could be tree sap but again this vehicle gets washed often and is garaged or parked under covered parking at work 90% of the time.

Toyota is repainting the hood under warranty. Dropping it off on Wednseday for them to fix it.

Is that standard black or attitude black?

Its a limited. I have not looked at the color code listed on the vehicle. Did not realize the limited was a different black.

It's sad that you would get the wrong information from Toyota that there is only one black your attitude black actually takes a two part touch up paint there's the metallic base and then a clearcoat I have purchased it. Your paint code is 218

That is just from me searching online not from the dealership. Dealership is fixing the factory paint so I'm sure they will take care of it. I haven't touched the paint.
